Classic Rock magazine is reporting that although the late guitar wizard Tommy Bolin passed away at the age of 25 in 1976, a new album is set for release out March 26. 'Great Gypsy Soul' features features outtakes and alternate versions of his solo material, with current musicians playing and singing along to Bolin’s own guitar and vocal recordings. The high profile list includes contributions from Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa, Warren Haynes, Steve Lukather, Glenn Hughes, Brad Whitford, Derek Trucks and many others,

Not sure how I feel about this one. Taking old Tommy songs and adding new guitarists & singers to them???? Seems kind of sacrilegious. But I've always liked hearing demos, alternate takes, bands re-recording their own songs, or even tribute albums, just to give me more versions of the same songs to listen to, so.....guess I'll give it a chance. Could be good. Could be dreadful.

Got a promo of the deluxe edition, and ya know what--it's pretty damn good. The concept works just fine, and it sounds very natural. Got a real 70s groove. Thumbs up.
