Former wrester Dwayne Johnson set for 'Journey To The Centre Of The Earth' sequel
Dwayne Johnson, the former WWE wrestler turned legitimate movie star, is in negotiations to star in the sequel to Journey To The Centre Of The Earth. Brendan Fraser, who starred in the first adaptation of Jules Verne's classic novel, as previously indication his intention to drop out of the sequel, entitled Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, leaving studio New Line to look to Johnson.
The script, based loosely on Verne’s The Mysterious Island, has been written by Richard Outten plus Brian and Mark Gunn.
Brad Peyton, who directed the second Cats & Dogs film, is onboard to shoot the movie in 3D.
Michael Caine is to appear in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the sequel to 2008's 3D film Journey To The Centre Of The Earth. As previously reported, the film has already cast Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, who will be replacing Brendan Fraser as the lead.
Caine will play the grandfather character in the film, though it is expected that he will appear in "several chase sequences, including one involving giant bees".
Shooting on Journey 2 will begin next month in Hawaii, before moving on to North Carolina.

One too few . . .
This is a conundrum . . . a movie with Dwayne Johnson AND Michael Caine.
Almost every movie with Michael Caine is good. Call it the "Michael Caine Rule." But this one has Dwayne Johnson in it. Which means, almost certainly, FAIL.
This casting duo is like a jelly toast strapped to the back of a cat. If you drop it, which side will it land on?

I disagree. I've enjoyed some of Johnson's films, like THE GAME PLAN, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN, and GRIDIRON GANG. He's nowhere near Caine's class, of course, but I think he works hard. Even though he's starred in films, he still takes supporting roles as well; that indicates to me that he's serious about doing a good job, and in most of his films, I think it shows.

Agreed.
I'm not a fan of him necessarily as an actor, but I've liked most of what I've seen him in. He single-handedly makes "Be Cool" watchable, which is an accomplishment. He is definitely not necessarily fail, he's just a pretty darn good character actor who happened to once do something else.

He was great in Be Cool as the gay bodyguard/driver/muscle. I still like to pop in the DVD every now and then to watch the video of "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man", it's wrong on so many levels but funny as hell.

Living on the edge.
Just got back from taking the family to this movie at the local Imax theatre. It was fine for a 3D popcorn movie, nothing that you'd want to take too seriously. The BIG bonus though was the cartoon short before the movie..."Daffy Duck's Rhapsody". Loved it! It was awesome to see, real classic Looney Tunes stuff.
