Does anyone have this movie on blu ray? If so, is it worth the upgrade from DVD? IIRC, previous VHS and DVD releases haven't been that great picture-wise and I'm not even sure that the movie has had anything but mono sound in previous home releases. Thoughts?

My DVD is essentially a direct copy of a 1997 laserdisc release (which was the first home video release of the film since the early 1980's). After Joey Ramone died, that version was repackaged a few times, and a new transfer was finally created for the DVD and Blu-Ray in 2010. The film has apparently always been in mono. Here's a review of the Blu-Ray from a website that's been around for a few years: http://www.dvdmg.com/rocknrollhighschoolbr.shtml

On a related note, it seems the American Beat reissue label went belly up before we got the promised Paley Bros. compilation.

What I'm wating for is any sort of re-release of Alan Arkush's other cult classic, "Get Crazy". DVD, Blu-ray, VHS, Selectavision--I don't care, anything!

Too bad they can't remaster the music portions in stereo from the soundtrack.
