It is an excellent work of art. I'm actually waiting for the SACD/Hybrid of his session "Things Are Getting Better" with Milt Jackson...looks like it should be here today or tomorrow.

I read somewhere that this was really a Miles album, but they put it out under Cannonball's name to help him fulfil a contractual agreement.

It's possible, Miles always warned musicians about falling prey to labels, but I would be wary of that claim for Somethin' Else. I am pretty sure that Cannonball never had a real contract with Blue Note, this was a one-shot deal between labels. And of course that's not to say that Miles isn't a key influence on the recording either.

Well, I wrote that and then I looked. :oops: I think he ultimately had two other albums on Blue Note (and recorded under a psuedonym for another). But the gist of what I was saying still stands. SE was recorded as a one-off for the label.
