I hope they don't add something to this like they did Vol. 1 which I still didn't pick up as there just wasn't enough for me, despite wanting that live show from Atlanta. We'll see what they do here.

"The Chrysalis Years (1980-1986)” collects together all six of the “post-Schenker” albums UFO recorded for Chrysalis in the 1980s. This anthology kicks off with 1980’s “No Place To Run”, now featuring the single edit ‘Young Blood’, available on CD for the first time, as well as its live b-side ‘Hot 'N' Ready’. Next up is a BBC gig recorded for Radio 1 on their 1980 “No Place To Run” UK tour. Featuring the classics ‘Out In The Street’, ‘Cherry’, ‘Only You Can Rock Me’, ‘Love To Love’, ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘Too Hot To Handle’, ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Rock Bottom’, this is the first time the original broadcast has been released on CD in its entirety.

1981’s “The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent” (UK No 19) kicks off with live favourite ‘Chains Chains’, and includes the singles ’Couldn't Get It Right’ and the 7” edit of ‘Lonely Heart’, previously unreleased on CD. Back in the days when rock groups were expected to produce (at least) one LP a year, and UFO being no slouches, they produced “Mechanix” (UK No 8) in 1982, now featuring the otherwise unavailable b-side, ‘Heel Of A Stranger’. 1983’s “Making Contact”, the first album to be recorded without founder member and bassist Pete Way, now features the b-side ‘Everybody Knows’, as well as the previously unreleased on CD - 7” edit of single ‘When It's Time To Rock’.

As UFO have now been touring and recording in excess of 40 years and 20 albums, announcing their “farewell” tour in 1983 may have been a little premature, but to commemorate this, a number of concerts were recorded on that tour, resulting in the 5 tracks taped at London’s famed Hammersmith Odeon, and released on “Headstone”. The “comeback” record, and their final LP for Chrysalis, “Misdemeanor” was released in 1986, and now features the non-album b-side ‘The Chase’, as well as US Remix versions of ‘Night Run’, ‘Heavens Gate’ and ‘One Heart’. The package is completed with liner notes written in conjunction with singer, songwriter and UFO mainstay Phil Mogg, conducted whilst the band recorded their very latest album, which is due for release later in 2012.

Hey-thanks for finding this man!
So, they've done it again. Including another live disc exclusive to this set as well as a bunch of single edits which I don't need. That being said, they absolutely lie when they say the edit of "Lonely Heart" has never been on CD. It's on the CD that kick-started this whole remastering campaign-"The Best Of UFO (1974-1983)"! Same with "When It's Time To Rock" and "Young Blood". Idiots.
They also incorrectly state that the b-sides haven't appeared before-they're on the remasters.
Again, the price is cheap, so if any casual fan wants to jump in, how could you go wrong? The albums from 1980-83 are killer, especially the George Martin produced "No Place To Run".
So, to a newbie, go for it (although I'd say get the individual remasters for the packaging and pages of info), the price is great and the music is stellar and remastered very, very well.
I doubt I'll pursue this just for the live disc.

I purchased the first one (cheap) for the one live set, an I have pre-ordered this second from Amazon UK for the complete 1980 live set on CD (already had the original BBC live disc and have already downloaded the complete 1980 set off amazon MP3). As far as b-sides etc, I don't know if Chrysalis can even keep track of what they have and have not released anymore....and I have bought the Schenker and Chapman era LPs/CDs so many times it makes me sick. Too bad they couldn't have just released an official bootleg box vol 2...but I guess that would make too much sense....Oh wait, they'll probably do that later after they have sold enough of these new sets!

Hmmm. I don't think I have all the Chapman UFOs on CD (used to have the LPs). So maybe I do need this (sigh), give those another listen. I finally broke down and ordered the other box set just for the live disc it was so cheap. As usual this one is way cheaper from amazon UK.

P.S. I wasn't going to pickup the new UFO 7 Deadly album until I heard it since I'm not that into the others with Vinnie Moore but decided to take a chance on it after all, and it's great! Except for the last throwaway "blues" track it is pretty solid. The best record with Vinnie IMO. I was going to comment on it in the old thread but I couldn't find it so I never bothered (does search here even work?).

Yes, but short names like UFO, ELP, Rush won't work in the search, so you'd be best off typing the album name.
The Chapman era was AMAZING.
I forgot about the new album-you just reminded me, although the reviews have been mixed.

It has a handful of songs that I am really really digging. Can't recall them all for sure, but the first track (Fight Night), #4 Angel Station, #5 Year of the Gun, #8 Burn Your House Down are the ones that I *think* made the most impression (I have the CD in the car but am looking at the case now)....only listened to the record 3 times now but I really dig it, much to my surprise. YMMV.

Got my set from Amazon UK yesterday...I was a bit disappointed that the 1980 BBC concert (the only portion of this set of interest to collectors for the few previously unreleased on CD tracks) is split between two discs. It would have been much nicer to have that on it's own disc! There is plenty of free space on discs 3 and 4 that could have been used to free up a separate disc for the 1980 set, It would have been nice, of course, for a few more unreleased live tracks but what can you do?
Now if we could just get that King Biscuit 1982 show....... :)

I don't remember what this set came out at, but right now it's under 11 pounds at amazon.co.uk (see the link in the first post).
