Wow-guess the drought's over. Yet more money I don't know how I'll come up with. I have some, not all of the remasters and they sounded beautiful, but had no bonus cuts.
Those were on the Thrill Of It All box which goes for a lot of money now, but this looks great. I don't know if they will be seperately released or not.
Further reissues I assume would be the live albums. It says 4 DVDs and mentions ALL albums will be in DVD-A so does that mean multiple albums on the DVD-A's or are they visual DVDs? Not clear. I don't have any real use for DVD-A which is why I hope they issue the albums seperately. We shall see. I love this band and this is cool news.

Wow...sounds great. It's a damn shame that "Avalon" was the end of the run.

According to the vivaroxymusic website: "Also included in the box set will be 4DVD's containing high resolution audio of each studio album. (2012 Flat Transfers from original analogue master tapes - 96/24 LPCM Stereo)"

Disappointed that there are no surround sound mixes.

Also, I'm trying to figure out if all their rarities are included here. I never got the Thrill Of It All box set, which apparently has a bunch of b-sides, alternate versions, etc., but I don't know if everything there is included on this new box set...and how many additional rarities are included here. My Roxy Music collection consists of the original CD pressings, so I'm due for a sonic upgrade, but if I spend that kind of money I'd like to know I'm getting everything available. I certainly don't want buy two box sets to do that.

Of course, I bought the whole catalog as mini-LP CDs some time ago, but this sounds like a must-buy.

April 2 is a Monday, indicating a UK release. Hopefully it won't cost US fans an arm and a leg.

I spent an arm on my kitchen renovation last year, so I only have a leg left, and I'm not sure I can give that up for an import Roxy box set. That's why I've been holding off on the Bill Nelson box set, which would be somewhere in the $80 range after the conversion rate. I really hope this is released here and reasonably priced.

Here are the rare cuts that were on Disc 4 of the Thrill Of It All. A quick look tells me virtually everything is on the new set except the b-side version of "India" unless I missed something. I see the value on that box plummeting quickly. This new set will be a must-have but I don't see a US release and it will be pricy as Roxy always are for most things. Anyway, hope this clears things up!

Thrill Of It All box set
Disc 4 (singles, rare and unissued material)
1.The Virginia Plan (single)
2.The Numberer (unreleased song)
3.Pyjamarama (single)
4.The Pride And Pain (unreleased song)
5.Manifesto (New Version)
6.Hula Kula (unreleased song)
7.Trash 2 (unreleased song)
8.Your Application's Failed (unreleased song)
9.Lover (rare song from Miami Vice soundtrack)
10.Sultanesque (unreleased song)
11.Dance Away (extended version)
12.South Downs (unreleased song)
13.Angel Eyes (extended version)
14.Always Unknowing (unreleased song, though avalible as a bonus song in some new Avalon editions.
15.The Main Thing (extended remix)
16.India (B-side to More Than This Single)
17.Jealous Guy (single)

I am a huge Roxy Music fan .I already have all the remastered albums , the Thrill Of It All boxset , The Early Years comp and a greatest hits . They all sound great to me . So unless the sound better and its bargain priced , I think I'm good . What we do need is a really good 2 or 3 cd Bryan Ferry comp .

I don't have any of their stuff on cds (have a bunch of the original records) so I might take the plunge on this depending on the price. The first five of their albums are as good a stretch run of quality work as any group ever, IMO.

Let us pray to the record company gods that this will be reasonably priced. Perhaps if it's not in some gold-plated deluxe packaging, we'll all be able to afford it. Last year I bought the 11-CD Leonard Cohen "Complete Studio Albums Collection" from Amazon UK for just over $30. It was in a simple box with mini LP sleeves (no inner sleeves) and a basic booklet with original album info. I'm guessing the Roxy set will be a little more lavish than that, but if they can keep it in the $60-$70 range, I'm in.

I didn't see the word "immersion" anywhere in that press release, so we might be spared the unnecessary price-gougers.

By the way, I second your request for Steven Wilson 5.1 mixes of their catalog, but it looks like they missed that opportunity with this set.

:sigh: I already own all 8 HDCD remasters, but not the b-sides or the previous box. Price will be a major determining factor for me.

I don't care at all about 5.1, but IF I ever get a DECENT hi rez player, the 96/24 would be an enticement.

5.1 isn't the be-all-end-all for me, but it's a nice added incentive. A good surround mix is an amazing experience, though.

This seems like a good place for a little self-promotion. For anyone on this thread who doesn't know me, I revisited the Roxy Music catalog last year and posted about it at my blog. All of those posts can be found at this link:
http://kamertunesblog.wordpress.com/cat ... oxy-music/

I'm no Roxy expert, and there are many bigger fans out there, but I was blown away by so much of their music, and I'm a much bigger fan now than I was at this time last year. As The Human Top pointed out above, "the first five of their albums are as good a stretch run of quality work as any group ever."

I do hope they are less compressed than Ludwigs set from several years back. I ended up buying vinyl copies for critical listening.

Speaking of vinyl, how nice would it be if they released a box set of 180-gram reissues of the Roxy catalog? If they included all the bonus tracks from the CDs, I would be more excited about that and would gladly forgo the DVDs.
