Note that Rhino's 2003 edition of Electric Warrior, featuring the same remastering but also including 7 bonus tracks which aren't on the new budget pressing, is still available:

What is the point re-issuing this without the extra tracks?
I have the 2 CD version, it's a brilliant album, deserves better respect.

Right on ranasakawa. That was the first thing that came to my mind as well. This is a true classic and I know that word "classic" is thrown around alot but in this case it truly is. I have both the 2 CD set and the single disc w/bonus for the car.

I believe that this is the 2-CD set they're referring to: Amazon USA | Amazon UK

And here's the 30th Anniversary Edition mentioned by Mr Fuse: Amazon USA | Amazon UK

I just bought this Rhino Flashback Electric Warrior disc and it is the Reprise disc, not the remastered Rhino edition.

Although you may think that the news sucks, there are many people on the Hoffman forum who actually prefer the Reprise disc (this exact disc) over any of the remasters including myself. In fact, Steve has heard the US production master of the album (a 1:1 tape duplication of the UK master), and has confirmed that tape copy sounds exactly like this disc. The remastering on the 30th Anniversary Edition CD sounds like crap due to many clipped peaks and heavy amounts of dynamic range compression resulting in a brick wall, even though Tony Visconti was involved with it and they used THE master tapes. The Reprise/Rhino Flashback disc sounds lifelike, even though it came from a production master copy tape.

Sorry Bradley, but you will need to back up your claim with waveforms.

As I'm without any cd of this album - just have the late 70's UK lp - thanks for the tip.

I was being facetious about the waveforms but I must admit, those are interesting. What about the waveforms from the Rhino remaster with the bonus tracks?

I will have to make an interlibrary loan from the library or download the Rhino remaster of Bang a Gong sometime.

Holy crap batman!! I figured Mr Fuse's comment was meant as a joke, but that "remastering" is downright frightening!

At least you now know to save your money and get older CD issues or the Rhino Flashback issue of this album.

Guess I'm gonna stick with my original Warner/Reprise CD.
I passed on the remaster because of the brickwalling and the digipack packaging, despite wanting the bonus tracks.
Can I hope for a Japan mini-LP with bonus tracks and decent remastering from the original mixdown tape?
