Alot of people are still on vacation, so here's a song with less selection.
Paul McCartney apparently said on VH1 that as "the killer song of all time."

Well, I'm a big fan of Badfinger, and the song strikes deeper when considering the fate of its songwriters, but that being said, I think the Nilsson version is the one. I wouldn't even consider any of the others.

Very tough call. The Nilsson version has always been a favorite. But my wife made a mix-CD for me and erroneously put the Badfinger version on there... and now it's one of my favorites as well.
I'd have to go with Nilsson... just for all of the AM radio memories.

Hard to believe that voice came out of him when you see a photo of him. Highly recommend the documentary about his life.

I love Badfinger, but Nilsson's version is incredible. His voice blows me away every time I hear that song. Mariah Scarey of course, hacked it up!

watched a doc on harry nillson "who is harry nillson and why is everybody talking about him?", and iirc it said he laid down the vocal track for that on the first take.

Not sure if my dislike of HN are from the songs "Me & My Arrow" & "Coconut" that were really overplayed in Seattle, or just not my style. I have owned both best of & Schmilsson; & I have never been able to enjoy anything on either except the 1 song.

I've always loved hearing Nilsson sing this but my first introduction was on No Dice when it was brand new. That will always stay with me as definitive. Badfinger, for sure.
