As a capitalist, I haven't got a problem with big box stores on general principle. I do, however, have a problem with my local Best Buy... specifically the blue shirts who work there. They're all a bunch of know-nothing college age idiots who not only aren't aware of just how much they do not know, but actually seem to be proud of not knowing things when they are forced to acknowledge that fact. And they're condescending like me, only they do it in real life... which only works in the service because you can't get fired for it there. Then, to top it all off, there's Grampa up front who checks you for your receipt and always has a comment about your purchase. It's like the final flick of your ear to annoy you as you walk out the door.

I've been told that the people at Best Buy that try to sell you DirectTV, or some other local version, are not Best Buy employees but salespeople for the content companies that are contracted to walk Best Buy's floors. I recently went to two Best Buys looking for a DVD and was accosted by these sales morons at both locations. Really annoying because they do not take no for an answer. I had to be rude to both of them to get them to leave me alone.

How things change in a year and a half.

A year and a half ago, IMWAN had Darin, and I had no Best Buy.

Now, the reverse is true.

It's been ages since I was in a Best Buy. Matt was there today scoping out TVs, though.

I don't think those annoying pushers are at Indiana Best Buys, because I've never had that experience.

In fact, both laptops and the new TV are from there. The laptop because of the Black Tie program, which is great to have when you have kids. The only place in town that will warranty for self-inflicted laptop abuse. We've more than got our money's worth with that.

And the TV because it was the lowest price anywhere for a 40". Even Amazon.

But I'd never purchase a DVD there. Why would I? They're full retail.

I checked their website and I guess they do. For whatever reason dryers are not something I think about when I think "Best Buy."

yeah, they've got major appliances like stoves and refrigerators. they might carry smaller stuff like toasters and vacuums too, but I'm not sure.
