 RiverCity Hobbies, La Crosse WI I just want to add that my LCS, has two stories. The first floor is the actual store while the upstairs is all devoted to gamers (RPGs).

I love that kids leaving their bikes laying in front of stores is universal. Kinda comforting in an odd way!

My local comic book shop doesn't exist. There are only half a dozen or so in the whole state, NONE of them anywhere near me. There are two in Little Rock, one in Hot Springs, one in Fort Smith (across the street from a cemetery--and the store sells Catholic religious books as well as comics!), and a couple more I haven't visited.

I don't know if anyone is close to the Omaha area and I have yet to go to the new store. But I think that Legends comics was one of the best comic shops I've ever been to. I used to live close to Omaha and would always stop by there on my way through town and I hope their new business venture pays off.

They opened 8 or 9 years ago with the coffee shop/comic shop hybrid going for them.

Louisville used to have a comic shop with a superhero themed diner attached. It's not there anymore.
In downtown Indy is a small gaming shop with a coffee/soup/snack bar. Only been in there once, but I dug it.

Matt and I have talked about how cool it would be to have a coffee shop/comic book store around here.
Kinda like how Barnes &Nobles have Starbucks inside - gives people another reason to go in and look around.

My posts on the topic. I love the idea of a coffee shop with a comic book store aesthetic. Li'l Jay wrote: I loved the aesthetic of that place the teenagers were in in the movie Kick-Ass. I think a coffee shop could do well if it just adopted indie comics as it's visual theme. Sure, sell some. But mainly just build the decor around that vibe. I miss barber shops with comic books. There was a time when that was S.O.P. You had a barber shop, you stocked it with a bunch of outdated comic books.

I remember some of those! When I was a kid, if a comic book was more than about 4 or 5 years old, I felt like I was holding the Magna Carta or something. Those dates seemed so far back when I had only been only the planet 10 years. My cousin was only 3 years older than me, but his comic book collection seemed to come from a Golden Age (1975 - 1978)
