Product Description CD Description Special Limited Deluxe Collector s Edition / 1st time on CD in Europe / Features Ronnie Montrose and Denny Carmassi from Montrose / Fully remastered sound shaped from 24 BIT digital technology / 16 page full colour booklet 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork, rare photos and band involvement. When it comes to guitar heroes Ronnie Montrose must rank amongst the greatest exponents of the art rubbing shoulders with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Gary Moore and Michael Schenker. Indeed, his first band Montrose is credited as crafting one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time elevating Ronnie to major status amongst fellow proponents of guitar mayhem. Gamma, formed in the late 70s, allowed Ronnie to take the Montrose template and move it closer to contemporary more sounds without losing sight of his hot-shot guitar slinging reputation. Reuniting with former Montrose drummer Denny Carmassi, then unknown Scottish vocalist Davey Pattison, bassist Glen Letsch and managed by renowned impresario and concert promoter Bill Graham, the band dug in hard to create Gamma 2 , a record that is regarded as the bands most satisfying effort. Originally issued in 1980 and produced by Gary Lyons (Foreigner, UFO, Aerosmith), it is a record erupting with fire and brimstone including a brace of classic hard rock cuts such as Mean Streak , Dirty City , Four Horsemen and a brilliant interpretation of Thunderclap Newman s timeless Something In The Air . Man of the match? If it ain't Ronnie blasting away on his trusted Gibson Les Paul then it must surely be vocalist Davey Pattison; a voice of pure blues soaked brilliance.
Rock Candy do it again! Another awesome album. I have all 3 of the Gamma albums that Wounded Bird did and they sound great, but Rock Candy do a stellar job and I'm sure this is better. However, I wish they were doing all 3 of these albums. Such a great band and with Ronnie Montrose and Davy Pattinson you had a truly killer combo of guitarist and vocalist. Gamma did OK, but should've been bigger. P.S. One of the best album covers ever. I used to always look at this one in the stores before buying it as a kid.

Always loved this album. Montrose's great solo on "Voyager" has been in my top ten ever since I first heard it way back when.

This is such cool, unique music that I have to have this. Rock Candy do a wonderful job and really, what bonus tracks would there be anyway?
