I saw Thor twice. Thor was outstanding. I don't think I'll be seeing Green Lantern.

That makes sense. You'd have to see Thor twice to equal the awesomeness of one GL viewing. It's just math.

Ross just can't avoid getting into fights with Steves in super-hero movie threads.

GL seems to be a pretty divisive film.
Here and other places, there seems little shortage of people saying the movie is really poorly made and a similar lack of shortage of people who express bafflement that anyone could see anything wrong with the movie. Straight-up name-calling seems to happen more often than not.

What would become of The Planet Of The Steves if Steve insults Steve.

Here's part of the problem right here, Steve. You won't shut up about how bad you think Green Lantern is. This is a thread about Cap and you're still on it. Steve Clubb doesn't like Green Lantern. We know this, Please stop telling us and feigning incredulity when someone does like it. Somebody likes just about everything.

Yes, because my pointing out that GL fights are common across the internet is the entire problem here. Nevermind, the GL/Thor argument already in play. All my fault. Sorry.

I can't understand the incredulity with Thor being a fine film. I thought it was outstanding.

I've noticed many GL fans try to justify GL by somehow making the claim that it's the equal of Thor, despite massive differences in both audience and critic reactions.
"Thor was just as terrible and people liked that! What's the deal?"
Except Thor's not terrible at all.

Thor and Green Lantern are perfect illustrations of the difference movie-making skill makes. Both have all of the same trappings, but Thor totally works, and GL is fading fast in my mind.
And there's not one thing you can point to about Thor to say "See that's more lofty, intelligent, or cool." On paper, it's a similar type of effort. But in execution, Branagh made a film that made me get a lump in my throat and want to jump out of my seat.

I hadn't been to the cinema in quite some time, so I planned a "movie day" a little over a week ago and saw "X-Men: First Class," "Super 8," and "Thor," one after the other. I really enjoyed all three--especially "Thor." My expectations for "Thor" were based on director Kenneth Branaugh, whose "Henry V," "Much Ado About Nothing," "Dead Again," and "Hamlet" are favorites of mine, and he didn't disappoint me.
That said, "Thor"--along with the "Cap" trailers--has made me ready for "Captain America: The First Avenger." I've even come to appreciate the costume.
I can't really compare "Thor" and "Green Lantern." While they're both super-hero movies, they're very different, and I enjoyed both.

I saw Super 8 last night and was underwhelmed.

X-Men First Class owned both Thor and GL. It's the silent mutant elephant, sitting in the corner of the room.
