Product Description
Worship Music, the long awaited new studio album from Anthrax, one of the four original architects of speed and thrash metal, has been confirmed for a September 13 release date, the day before the band's triumphant return to their native New York to play at Yankee Stadium as part of the Big Four concert extravaganza.

Not only is Worship Music Anthrax's first studio release in eight years, but the album marks the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna, whose last studio work with the band was 1990's Persistence of Time. Belladonna is now firmly back in the Anthrax line up wiht drummer Charlie Benante, guitarists Scott Ian and Robb Caggiano, and bassist Frank Bello.

'Getting Joey back in as our full-time, permanent singer solidified us as a unit like we hadn't been in years,' said Ian. 'All of us were on the same page creatively, working together, writing together, and becoming a band again.'

'I get goosebumps listening to the new music,' Benante admitted. 'Scott and Rob's guitars are absolutely on fire, Frankie kicks butts on bass, and hearing Joey sing, well, the band sounds like Anthrax-Joey's back and it's great.'

The 11-track Worship Music was produced by Anthrax, Rob Caggiano and Jay Ruston and recorded over a four year period at studios in NY, LA and Chicago. Belladonna's return to the band prompted some of the songs originally recorded to be re-crafted with fresh lyrics or tweaked to better suit his overall vibe and energy. Some of the songs were completely replaced with brand-new songs and, of course, all have Belladonna's inimitable vocal stamp on them.

'I'm very happy with the record. It sounds like Anthrax. There are some interesting twists and turns on it, and plenty of tunes for fans to get their fingers on. I felt very comfortable working with Jay Ruston, and I think everyone brought to the table what they needed to. Now it's time for the fans to listen and get what they've been waiting for. I'll tell you, I'm really excited.'

With worldwide sales in excess of 10 million, 2011 sees Anthrax celebrating its 30th year as a band. Over those three decades, Anthrax has received multiple Gold and Platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the media, industry and fans.

Anthrax 'almost finished' with first new album since 2003 - video

Anthrax have almost finished their ninth studio album.

Tentatively titled ‘Worship Music’, the album is the first the band have made since 2003’s 'We've Come For You All'. It’s also the first album the band has recorded with singer Joey Belladonna since 1990.

Speaking to the Artisan News Service, guitarist Scott Ian said: "We're almost ready to go. Eight things are recorded and we've only got to go back and re-record two or three things. And Joey's singing on all of it."

Watch the full video interview with Ian by scrolling down and clicking below.

Belladonna is the second singer to record vocals for 'Worship Music'. Sessions initially took place with former vocalist Dan Nelson, but he left in 2009. After another former vocalist, John Bush said he couldn't commit to the band, Belladonna stepped in and joined full-time.

Anthrax have had a troubled time with vocalists in their 29-year career, going through a total of eight so far. Belladonna is on his third stint in the band, having quit in 1995 and 2007, only to return earlier this year.

The album is rumoured to feature covers of Refused's 'New Noise' and Alice In Chains' 'We Die Young'.

Anthrax finishing 'most emotional' album 'Worship Music'

Anthrax have described their new album 'Worship Music' as the "most emotional" music they've ever made.

The follow-up to 2003's 'We've Come for You All' will feature reunited member Joey Belladonna on vocals. The album was originally recorded with vocalist Dan Nelson, but has since been re-worked with Belladonna back on board. Nelson left the band in 2009.

In a recent interview with SoundSpike, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante revealed: "This [record] is years in the making. It's finally at the end stages of it all."

"I'm very happy," he added. "This record is like a labour of love in all the different ways that it took to get here. A lot of blood, a lot of sweat, a lot of tears. It's very emotional to get to this point. Nothing's fabricated here. It's all based on truth. This record is probably the most emotional record that we've ever had to make."

The band's guitarist Scott Ian recently uploaded some video from the studio under the title 'More New Anthrax'. Scroll down to view below.

'Worship Music' is tentatively due in September.

Can't say as I blame John Bush for "not committing" after they blew him off after YEARS with the band and arguably helping them produce their best music. I'd rather hear him in Armored Saint anyways.

And I think "Greater of Two Evils" came out after "We've Come For You All."

Anthrax to release new album 'Worship Music' on September 12

Anthrax have completed work on their new album 'Worship Music' and have revealed a UK release date of September 12, 2011.

The long-awaited album marks the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna and features 11 tracks produced by Anthrax, guitarist Rob Caggiano and Jay Ruston. The record is Anthrax's first studio release in eight years.

“I get goosebumps listening to the new music,” drummer Charlie Benante says in an official press release. “Scott [Ian] and Rob’s guitars are absolutely on fire, Frankie [Bello] kicks butt on bass, and hearing Joey sing, well, the band sounds like Anthrax – Joey’s back and it’s great.”

The album was recorded over a four-year period at studios in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. “It took everything in us as people to make this record and it shows," says Ian. "We went back to square one and did it for the same reason we did it back then, because we worshipped music and we still do. Music is something worth worshipping.”

'Worship Music' track-titles include 'Judas Priest', 'I’m Alive', 'Crawl', 'Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t', 'Earth On Hell', 'The Devil You Know' and 'In The End'. The album will be released through Megaforce Records. Anthrax will play the UK's Sonisphere Festival in July.

Anthrax have posted the first taste of their 10th studio album 'Worship Music' online.

The thrash survivors, who are currently touring the world with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth as part of the Big Four tour, have posted a new track 'Fight Em' Till You Can't' on their official website Anthrax.com for free download.

The track is the first to be taken from the band's first studio release since 2003’s 'We've Come For You All'. It is also the first album the band has recorded with singer Joey Belladonna since 1990.

Belladonna is the second singer to record vocals for 'Worship Music'. Sessions initially took place with former vocalist Dan Nelson, but he left in 2009. After another former vocalist, John Bush, said he couldn't commit to the band, Belladonna stepped in and joined full-time.

Anthrax come to the UK as part of the Big Four on July 8 when they play Sonisphere Festival.

Anthrax: 'Metallica gave us a kick up the ass' – video

Video: Anthrax - Our New Album Is An Emotional Rollercoaster

Anthrax have revealed that Metallica's decision to offer them the chance to tour as part of Big 4 forced them to focus and finish their album.

The thrash veterans, who will release their long awaited 10th studio album 'Worship Music' on September 12, have also revealed they had almost finished the album when they were forced to re-record the whole thing after singer Dan Nelson left the band and former frontman Joey Belladonna rejoined.

Speaking to NME backstage at Sonisphere Festival in a video which you can see at the top of your screen, guitarist Charlie Benante said: "I've got to say, Metallica and the whole Big 4 thing really gave us a kick up the ass. It was like 'Right, get your shit together, let's go' and that gave us a deadline for the record."

Asked about 'Worship Music', guitarist Rob Caggiano said the band were relieved to have finally finished it, saying: "It's a relief now that it's done. We've been working on the record for a really long time and we worked out we've been in 15 different studios. It's been an emotional rollercoaster."

Benante also spoke about the decision to re-record the album with former vocalist Joey Belladonna, who rejoined last year. He said: "The record was 85% done and then we had no singer, so we kind of waited for Joey to want to go in and record and once he did, it all came together really quickly."
