Will Ferrell says 'Anchorman 2' could still happen

Will Ferrell has said that a sequel to Anchorman is still a possibility. Ferrell made his name as newsreader Ron Burgundy in the hit 2004 comedy. Though a sequel has long been rumoured, it has never emerged. Now, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he has revealed that the delays are down to negotiations with studio Paramount.

Ferrell said: "It's a little peculiar. On the one hand, [we were] begged to do a sequel for such a long time, and then we finally came up with a concept that we liked, we talked to [Paramount] and everyone was up for it."

He added: "To get the reaction we got, it's slightly puzzling to us. But you know what? It's also their money. They get to do or not do whatever they want. So we’ll see."

He continued: "We're still going back and forth. Maybe there is a solution. Or, I know in talking to Adam (McKay, writer), if it never happens, then it never happens. And that's fine too. So we'll just see."

They keep saying that they can't make the accounting work. You're telling me that Will Ferrell and Steve Carell and Paul Rudd could never do another movie together?

Can't Will Ferrell and Steve Carell and Paul Rudd find something else to do together besides Anchorman 2? The fever for a sequel has cooled off by now.Give us something new.

I'm sure it has to do with the heightened status of all those stars -- Carrell is now a box office draw (and the movie probably increases his significance), and Ferrell has done more since then.

But at the same time, those guys have put out plenty of flops, so it's probably a matter of everybody needing to get realistic.

What, no Land of the Lost sequel? How about a Step-Brothers sequel? Or a Semi-Pro sequel.

Or Elf 2? (Actually that's the only one that might be remotely good/funny).

I believe they already made a sequel to Anchorman. It was called "Talladega Nights."

And yet all three will star in movies featuring multiple big stars.

Well, I suppose in those cases they're doing it for a pay they're willing to accept and the producer is willing to pay (don't know the amounts) Which apparently isn't the case here -- I'm just speculating as to how it seemingly got out of whack. Stars asking for too much, studio trying to pay the same thing they did for Anchorman One, and they can't seem to get a deal done.

I think they might be working together in an all-new idea, Newspaperman.

Anchorman is one of those movies that I can't understand how people find it funny at all.

Did you take into account the fact that it's awesome?

I really hope this movie gets made, because "Anchorman," "Talladega Nights," "Semi Pro" and "Blades of Glory" did not exhaust the single joke that all four movies are built around.

I'd be more than willing to watch this. I am rather fond of the original.

I saw enough of that to see it lacked anything that made Anchorman awesome. Which I guess is pretty typical of a sequel.

The NC definition of awesome must be vastly different from the KY definition.

I thought Jay was from South Carolina.

In any case, I would agree that from wherever Jay is, its definition of Awesome is pretty much correct.

It's SC. Me and Serge, only SC IMWANkers.

Bully and Marcus just over the border in Charlotte, NC. James Taylor over in Wilmington, NC.

And Charlotte is French for "whale's vagina."
