I voted for "The Captain And Me". I love the Doobies, but some of the Michael McDonald stuff bordered on muzak for me even though there's good stuff on each record, I found the R&B material very bland. People forget, these guys used to rock!

I also voted for "The Captain and Me" for much the same reasons, although I do think that "What A Fool Believes" may be their best track.

I also voted for "The Captain & Me". Saw them live on that tour and was impressed big time. "Toulouse Street" was a very, very close coming in 2nd.

Thanks fo doing this again Renny, good way to discuss favorites.

I went with "Minute by Minute", but it was close between that and "Livin' on the Fault Line". Out of the reunion albums I would have picked "Brotherhood". I just love "Dangerous", and "Rollin' on".

For me it was Captain almost just for "South City Midnight Lady". Hands down, one of my all time favorite songs by anybody. But the whole record is great.

But for the reunions, I thought Cycles was fantastic, rocking again with great melodies. And Sibling Rivalry being a load of crap. Possibly one of the worst records by anybody, of all time. After Cycles and Brotherhood I thought they were on a streek but it came to a screeching halt.

Back to the Captain. First time I saw them, Joe Walsh opened up and almost blew them off the stage, by himself. Not quite though

Thanks Renny!

I think their best song is "Long Train Runnin'", just a great beat and evocative lyrics, but for a whole album I'll take "Minute by Minute" any day, for great production, memorable tunes, and soulful vocals.

The formula for me goes something like thus: The Captain & Me + Year of 1973 + arguably the best year of my life= my vote. "Long Train Runnin'" helped me through the first half of the year and helped melt into my last season of baseball in Little League. "China Grove" helped rock in a Fall of '73 that I'll never forget.

For me, it's Livin' on the Fault Line. "You're Made That Way" and the title track does it for me...then after this album we head full speed into muzak city...

The Captain and Me, not only for the singles but for great album tracks like "Pure As The Driven Snow," "South City Midnight Lady" and the title track. Stampede comes a close second.

Guess I missed this one first time around. It's "Livin' On the Fault Line" for me.

I never cared for them until Michael McDonald joined. Didn't care for them again when he was gone...

One of the greatest hits comps; for me they are a singles band with 1-4 good songs on each of the pre Michael McDonald albums. IMO, McDonald destroyed the band.

Different strokes for different folks. I never cared for them after Michael McDonald joined them. :-)

Voted for Toulouse Street since no one else had, even though I really have a hard time choosing between TS & Captain&Me

I have to agree mostly with Geff, "Best Of The Doobies" is enough for me.

If I were to choose one of the albums listed in the poll, it would be What Were Once Vices ..., because it has the song "Another Park, Another Sunday"
