As much as I love Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and I do, I have to give the nod to Young Justice on the animation alone. It is so good. Avengers has nice animation, fun characters, and good stories, but Young Justice just looks so good!

As much as I love the Avengers, I too had to go with YJ. DC just has the edge over Marvel right now in animation. The look, the stories, the banter...everything is better in the animated DCU because they've had more time to get it right. I think Marvel will catch them but they haven't yet.

I take a back seat to no one in my love of all things DC.
However, The Avengers stories are modernizations of MY Avengers, the first few years.
It's hard to favor the brats over the grownups, now that I'm allegedly one myself.
However (again), the JLA as depicted in YJ is my favorite visual incarnation of ANY Superhero cartoons.
So, YJ wins, but only on the merits of their mentors' depictions.

Young Justice. I tried the Avengers 'toon and have multiple episodes on my DVR, but I just couldn't get into it.

YJ has the WB animation machine behind them in full force and it shows. Flawless animation and great stories.

I've been waiting for the Avengers to be released on DVD.
Well, apparently at the end of April.

And they are expensive: two discs, $19.95 each.
The first is 154 minutes, the second is 135 minutes.

Okay, those DVDs are $13.99 each pre-ordered from Amazon.
Still seems like at least $5 too much.

I've liked what I've seen online so far, though. The animation is pretty
good, but not as good as DC normally puts out.

YJ is better animation, but I like the writing and the take on the characters in Avengers a lot more.

Young Justice.

I would have expected it to be the other way around, but I'm just absolutely loving Young Justice.

I just wish they'd lose Miss Martian's 'Meggan, Hello' shtick.

YJ---- story and animation is better across the board. I like the Avengers but the 'toon is just "okay".

Iron Man's voice also bugs the hell out of me.

It just doesn't sound right to me.

Agreed, But the weird part is it sounds like he is doing Robert Downy Jr.

I find Iron Man's voice is somebody trying, too much almost, to sound like Robert Downey Jr. It doesn't bother me too much either. Captain America's voice of the other hand is a little stilted.

I love Aqualad's voice on Young Justice. Having recently watched the Teen Titans, I like how I know it is the same guy who did "Boo-ya!" Cyborg, and yet he is such a good voice actor that I don't notice.

I wish the comics Aqualad was more like his cartoon counterpart.

He's pure awesome, really. They found a way to make an ocean character cool. Kudos on that.

My problem with Young Justice so far is that the lessons in each episode feel so heavy handed that I feel like I'm being beaten over the head with them (this is the episode where the team learns to trust each other, this is the episode where Robin learns what it takes to be a leader). Avengers feels like Avengers comics in animated form. For a quick comparison, look at how Young Justice handled the Aqualad/Robin leadership issue, and then look at how Avengers is handling the same thing with Cap and Iron Man.

The Avengers aren't being trained by anyone. If anything, the JLA lesson plan is a small part of each episode. The series theme seems to be, "Here's your assignment. Here's where your assignment gets thrown out the window. Good job on handling something that was supposedly out of your league."

I'd like to see a YJ episode from the point of view of the monitoring JLA members. As seen with the GA/Batman interaction this week, they seem to be having to go with the flow on these things. I'm guessing that they're having plenty of "Oh crap" moments as they see things get out of hand during each assignment.

I don't just mean the lessons coming from the League, but even between members of the team. The Aqualad/Robin leadership scene played out as "I should be leader" "You are not ready. But until you are, I will lead the team in your place" "Gosh, you're right. Thank you" being spelled out after an entire episode demonstrating that Robin isn't ready to be leader.

I like that they haven't given us a detailed rundown of his powers/weapons.

Well, the Avengers are doing what you suggest very well. I like that. But, I didn't have that big of a problem with the YJ episode you referenced.

On a different note, I find that the Young Justice episodes feel like much more is at stake for the characters. I never feel as if the Avengers are ever in any real jeopardy. And, I can't really explain this feeling . . . just putting it out there.
