I just got a hold of a copy of the 2 disc. I'm sad to say that my first reaction of the live disc is BRIGHT! LOUD! TEETH SHATTERING! PAINFULLY COMPRESSED! BAM! POW! Take that Batman!

May we please have a new law that mastering engineers who produce cd's that literally make one's teeth hurt must spend 24 hours straight in a prison cell listening to how they destroyed a new cd with the volume at least 100db?

In all seriousness as much trouble as I'm having getting past the compression on the songs I already like on the live cd, doesn't give me much hope for actually enjoying the studio cd with new songs :sigh:

There's also way too much hall ambiance on the live cd, it almost sounds like an audie, which doesn't fit this band at all.

Just got to the studio cd. It's not as bright as the live album (Thank God). Not sure why; it may be that the dreadful mix on the live cd adds to the loudness/brightness. I enjoyed the first 2 tracks of the studio cd, beyond that don't have an opinion yet.

Really a shame about the live album's awful sound quality, as that's what most interested me.

Here's my final comments after playing the studio 1x & the live 2x:

The new album is pretty good, though imo not as good as my fav Look Sharp. IMO, the compression/loudness/brightness detracts from enjoying both albums, the live being worse than the studio.

My suggestion: this is worth picking up for Roxette fans; it would have fit right in in the Look Sharp/Joyride days. However, unless you are a fan of heavily compressed cd's, I'd suggest saving your $'s & just getting the 1 disc. The live cd wouldn't be bad if it had been mixed & mastered decently, but both were poorly done.
