Actually... Not so bad. I like it. Believe me, it take some getting used to.

What Judgey-wudgy said. Definitely takes practice. Looks a lot better than most of the stuff I've done on my Wacom so far, though.

I've had a bit of experience using Wacom, and since no one has said it yet  it takes practice, practice, practice. So keep it up.

I think I'm giving up on this one, and will try something new.

Anyone got a comic story written they don't mind me ruining with my horrible art? Fair warning, I'm just playing around, so I'm gonna work at my leisure, and will likely never finish drawing it, but I do promise to show you my feeble attempts.

The Wacom tablet is fantastic!

That being said...I do very little drawing on it. Well, except for those celebrity pieces I was doing (Adam West, Julie Newmarr). But nothing beats it for painting!

I was introduced to my first tablet (pre-Wacom) in the late 80's and never looked back. It was a bitmap based weather graphics system purchased by my TV station. I picked up that stylus with the long cord attached, immediately adapted to drawing while looking in a different direction, and took off. I went home that night and told my wife that I'd found the coolest art form in the world. My job description changed the next day. As soon as we got our first home PC, we started experimenting with mouse pens and every affordable stylus (kids tablets as well) until we found Wacom.

Absolutely, I went all digital a few years thanks to the Wacom, and haven't looked back since.

Someone help me I just got one and I can't seem to keep it on the drawing area! I keep moving icons around, opening menus, and it's really upsetting me! I was looking forward to the possibilities of this and instead I want to throw it out the fucking window.

Jeff, what kind is it?

Edit: The model specifically? Did you load the drivers for it?

The bamboo. Yes, loaded the drivers and I've now located the configuration utility, which might help some. Still have that "can't keep it on my drawing area" problem though. I blame me, not the Wacom. For now. :)

I really should give it more than five minutes before I become angry.

Yeah, Bamboos are a tad sketchy to me. I'm using one in a Flash animation class I'm taking and it's not "digitized" to the actual screen area, so instead of being like the higher end Wacoms, you can actually move the stylus off the edge of the Bamboo, but not be entirely off the screen area. My teacher said that it works different on different machines.

And you've been working out so much lately, it could've been bad for the Wacom. :ohno:

This nicely encapsulates the dread I feel figuring out each new program/ piece of tech. I should relax and treat it as more of an adventure. I've had my eye on a Wacom for a couple of years. First, I had to learn how to draw  I'm particularly interested in how painting would go, as painting's a little costly and space for the canvasses or even the boards is at a premium here.

Right, painting and photo retouchings are the primary reasons I bought it. I thought I might also try my hand at drawing with it, but that was secondary. Even if I end up putting it in some corner and forgetting about it, I bought it with Christmas money and spent only $55, so it's not the end of the world. But I do want to love it. :)

Now that I have my iPad I will likely never use my Wacom Tablet again.
