Not discussed here and I doubt they used the original lp masters as the 1986 George Martin remixes of the Help, Rubber Soul and Y&T tracks are used.
The disc credits the 2009 remasters but my own take on that is they used the 2009 transfers (the analog to digital part) but mastered it different as it would be difficult to line up exactly the mono tracks to the slightly limited stereo in terms of level if one merely copied them from the parent discs plus it's kind of obvious the A Hard Day's Night tracks sound dare I say it better as in less midrangy and limited compared to the stereo parent cd.

Disclosure: I haven't filled out my equipment profile so fully expect this post to be deleted by the over sensitive.

Thanks for your comment. That makes sence. But what sources were used for the tracks that don't have a clean beginning or end? It would be nice if they disclosed the mastering process regarding all the tracks. Hopefully they will.

Some of these when recorded would have full beginnings and endings that when the albums were compiled were edited to segue into the next track so all you do is transfer the whole track and for the studio albums remake that join.
In other instances you may simply fade out the ending at the 'crossover' to the next track. I've done this when making compilations of my own.

If I may so bold I'll add BLUE is all gain over the 1993 version so you can bin it!

I didn't pick these up yet. How'd they turn out?

I'm wondering the same. Kaja, not quite understanding your post. Are you saying these are better then the previous editions?

Picked these up at Borders with a 40% off coupon and an additional 10% Rewards+ discount - got them down to about $13.50 each.

Like I've said before, I'll seek out a soon-to-be-cheap used copy of the jewel boxed originals for their unique mastering.

I think they sound fantastic. These will be in heavy rotation at the house since they have all my kids' favorite songs.

Can you tell if the mastering is different then the box sets?

It sounds like the same mastering to me. If you like the 2009 remasters, then you'll like these (and vice versa). "A Day In The Life" has the full guitar intro. "Back In The USSR" fades - no "Dear Prudence" segue. In this case I think they may have simply hastened the fade slightly - but I don't know for sure.

Even though I have all the remasters, I wanted these also - call me nuts!

Superior to the 1993 RED & BLUE and imho some of the tracks are less limited than the 2009 seperate issues so I would say better.
I know some will find that hard to believe but mastering is what you do to the basic transfers to make them sound 'good' (the 2009 transfer are that 'transfers' - the fixes and EQ added in places for the 2009 remastered separate albums was done and saved separately) and in making a compilation you may master the tracks differently to even the differences between different tracks so a track individual album and a compilation from the same transfer can be different.

The blue one is the first Beatles I ever bought (LPs), back in my college days. The quality of music on those two discs may be unrivaled anywhere, and I like hearing the songs in that sequence. I have all the remastered individual CD I want,I have the '93 versions of these, and I can more or less recreate them from my remastered CDs, but of course I'm still tempted at some of the prices I'm seeing.

Saw the price for the shirt and disc, Ouch! $39.00. I passed and went for the discs only.

Nice mastering and great to have all those tracks compiled like this.

The t-shirt packages are less expensive at Amazon right now:

No sign yet of the Limited Pants Edition that Dave wants. ;)

I'm still confused that if you bought all of the remasters, why would anyone want these?

Technically, your collection isn't complete without them.

Because you get "A Day In The Life" with a clean intro.

(I didn't buy these yet)
