This is almost tempting to me because it's the first-ever BCR anthology-style box set and it has the rare Nobby Clark-sung single version of "Saturday Night." I'm not a Nobby fan, but the collectible aspect alone is interesting. And Linda will like the fact that the Duncan Faure era is represented as well. Too bad there are no tracks from the '80s reunion tours or 1985's Breakout, but at least the BCR finally got their own box set. About frickin' time!

I have nothing but good things to say about Salvo. Their work on The Move's catalogue in particular made me very, very happy.

Now I'm wondering if Salvo is going to further remaster and further expand the entire Rollers catalogue. That's what they did for The Move, Buzzcocks and Undertones, all of whom already had remastered, expanded albums on the market.

Sony is releasing the BCR two-disc sets. Judging from the tracklistings, I'm guessing they're just repackages of the 2004 remasters...not that there's anything wrong with that!

Linda, we both have been raving about Salvo's work on the Move catlg so Thanks for mentioning this. I also loved their work on the Procol Harum catlg as well.

As for the Rollers set, I am definitely getting this! Salvo's rep is the clincher!

I just wish there were more in the way of rarities. I wonder if "Remember" is the rare original UK single version with Nobby Clark vocals as well. That would give me another reason to justify it. And "Kings Road Chelsea" is a Les solo tune as far as I know, unless there was an unreleased BCR version I never knew about.

Just too bad that the legal mess regarding their long-simmering royalties suit wasn't resolved already, as this box set would be a great tie-in to the proposed reunion of the the classic Rollers lineup that Les wants to get off the ground. Maybe it could even include "Gossamer Dream" and/or other studio tracks from the ill-fated 1999 reunion as seen on VH1's Behind The Music as well.

Agreed. Nobby wasn't a great vocalist, but it is good to finally have those early singles and b-sides collected. This is pretty much the box set I'd put together. I might have chosen a few different tracks here and there, but overall, this is a very solid representation of the BCR.

Look closer, Chris — the back of the box (the second image you posted) has the tracklisting, and it confirms both of the above. "Remember" is the original UK single version, and "Kings Road Chelsea" is a Les solo track.

And if this is truly remastered, then I guess I'm in. Why I'm buying a box set with material I own 99% percent of is beyond me, but what the hell....?

Where would Jimbo be today if he asked himself such silly questions? ;)

Not to worry, Chris! Sounds like there may be at least 3 tracks you don't have, and with 81 tracks, that would only be about 96% that you already have. :p

I will buy, but an unexpected car repair today will push such purchases back a bit. Cars!

You buy a CD, it works for life! However, they won't get me to and fro!

Salvo did awesome work with the Procol Harum catalogue and have continued to do so with the Madness and Nazareth releases (aside from a couple of crappy looking two-fers). And now with The Frames. This label is the real deal!
