The new Raspberries reunion CD is coming out next spring. It is a CD/DVD of their concert at the House of Blues in Hollywood. It can be preordered at the Eric Carmen web site. The preorder is limited to 300 copies and you get the entire concert on the CD and DVD. You also get it signed by all four band members and each copy is numbered. When the standard CD/DVD is issued in the Spring it will only have five songs on the DVD. The cost is $125. Added by Linda ~ here are details for the general release versions, coming out on July 31st ... Amazon.com When a long-disbanded group of aging rockers reunites for a note-perfect set of their 30-year-old catalog, the casual observer might think "I wonder which one needs to pay off some back taxes?" However, when the band in question is the Raspberries, it's cause for celebration. Little-heard and criminally under-appreciated by the masses since their mid-70s demise (who's running those classic rock radio stations, anyway?), the Raspberries in their heyday produced a string of jangly tunes and dense harmonies as sweet and sticky as a tootsie-pop, influencing later power poppers like Matthew Sweet and Teenage Fanclub, and endearing themselves to fans and fellow musicians--Bruce Springsteen contributes reverent liner notes to this release, and John Lennon is pictured in the CD booklet in his Raspberries sweatshirt. Live on Sunset Strip documents a 2005 set by the original band members, covering hummable hits like "I Wanna Be with You" and "Go All the Way", and down-and-dirty crunchers "I'm a Rocker" and "Party's Over." The band sounds great, and lead singer Eric Carmen belts his vocals as if not a day has passed. A bonus DVD contains live footage of five songs from the show, including the ironically titled mini-rock opera (and final Raspberries hit) "Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)."Product Description Quick: what undersung band has been cited as a crucial influence by Springsteen, Kurt, Courtney, KISS, Joan Jett, Mötley Crüe and at least two Sex Pistols? It's the Raspberries, arguably the most influential power-pop group ever to emerge from west of the Atlantic... Entertainment Weekly

But you get it autographed by all four members, numbered cd and complete dvd. The Raspberries have had other special promotions with autographs, guitar strings, picks, etc and have sold out fairly quickly.

I'm quite upset by this. Why not offer a regular edition that's not autographed, at a cheaper price? I've been waiting for 2 years, for a live document of the reunion show since I saw them at HOB in Chicago. This is just TOO far outta my price range...

Their going to offer the regular cd with a five cut dvd in the spring. I would guess that it will be at the regular price.

$125.00 is absolute madness-who cares about autographs you didn't even get yourself? This is awful-I'm sure someone will pay it but I hope not many. It's a shame what bands who have a small fan base will do to the die-hards. But then again, nobody is forcing the fans to plunk down $125.00 for a CD either.

Actually...what they're forcing the fans to plunk $125 for is more the video than the CD. The threat that everything other than 5 songs will NEVER be available except to those who pony up for the limited edition set is something that I'm sure is causing angst amongst the diehard fans.

Exactly. Nowadays, I enjoy WATCHING a concert as opposed to just listening. This is why I was looking forward to a full DVD of this tour. NOT just 5 songs, because I was there for the show in Chicago and it was absolutely fantastic! I don't really care about the autographs, since I already have Eric Carmen and Wally Bryson's.

After pre-ordering this package back in December, it appears that Ryko will finally release it in a few weeks. I received an email today saying: "We expect to ship the Special Edition sets in mid July."
It ALSO reveals that "As one of the first 300 buyers, your sets will be numbered and autographed. The remainder of the sets we sell thru the website will NOT be numbered or autographed, but will contain the same audio and video content, as well as all the same "extra" features."
Funny how the promised bonus material on those first 300 sets will now go to everyone...
In compensation, they are offering a free download of "a very special unreleased "unplugged" video of "Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)," recorded for the VH1 "Hangin' With The Raspberries" special. The download will be available this Friday morning, and WILL NOT be on the
DVD you receive."
Can you say "duped"? I knew you could!

Is this the same set that they were hawking on their web-site for an inflated amount of money last year?

Yep! now they're selling unautographed copies for $125.00!
Too rich for my blood. I saw the Chicago performance and it was fantastic, but I mean, c'mon! I'm not paying THAT! The DVD is more than the ticket to the show cost me. I'm gonna take my chances and see if they release a cheaper package. I'm not interested in the CD's, I'd rather see the show again...

June 18, 2007, 6:00 PM ET
Jessica Letkemann, N.Y.
The reunited Raspberries' 2005 show at Los Angeles' House of Blues forms the basis of "Live on Sunset Strip," due July 31 via Rykodisc. The project will be available as single-disc edition and a three-disc CD/DVD set.
The Raspberries reunited in 2004 and toured briefly the following year with their original lineup of Eric Carmen, Wally Bryson, Dave Smalley and Jim Bonfanti. At the House of Blues gig, the group played a blend of '70s hits like "Let's Pretend" and "I'm a Rocker," cuts from its four albums and a cover of the Who's "I Can't Explain."
The three-disc version of "Strip" augments the 13-song CD version with eight additional audio tracks and a five-song DVD.
Here is the track list for the 3-disc "Live on the Sunset Strip":
Disc One:
"I Wanna Be With You"
"I Can't Explain"

"If You Change Your Mind"
"Let's Pretend"
"Last Dance"

"Don't Want To Say Goodbye"
Disc Two:

MY complaint is that they're not offering the whole show on DVD unless you shell out the 125 bucks. I prefer live DVD's over CD's for the veiwing experiance.

The Raspberries were way ahead of their time in terms of compressed sound.

The band says this CD will correct that compression issue. Those tunes were great, and this looks like a winner.

Is that the reason that all of their studio releases have crappy sound ?
Heck, even the stuff that went out on Rhino Records sounded bad.
Has this issue been addressed directly by the band ? I'd be very interested to read something regarding that.
Anyone got a URL for that?

Danno, on the Raspberries site, http://www.raspberriesonline.com, drummer Jim Bonfanti says on the message board that we will get to hear Raspberries music without compression for the first time on this CD.

This CD/DVD is the REAL DEAL. Produced/Engineered by the band and Mark Linett, it promises to be among the best live cd's / dvd's ever. For further ordering info or info on the band, check http://www.raspberriesonline.com.
