Wow, I was just at WB.com the other day to see what was up next for DC Animated, and this wasn't on there. Must have just been announced. Trailer looks really good, and so far I have enjoyed DC's animated outings much more that Marvel/Lion's Gate.

I wish they used Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for all the voice work on Batman and Joker no matter who the creative team is. They're perfect, still around, and create a consistency in tone.

It looks pretty good, it may be my second DC purchase...

I'll agree that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are definitive, as well as Tim Daly, but I'm fine hearing other interpretations from time to time.

We've had a Wonder Woman dvd and a Green Lantern dvd... I'm wanting more like this. A solo Flash dvd, a Justice Society of America (set during WW2) dvd and a Captain Marvel dvd.

Apparently the next one up after Batman: Under the Red Hood is Batman: Year One. While I do love that story and would like to see it animated with a Mazzuchelli look, it is yet another Batman origin and I don't see why they didn't release a movie with a different character between it and Red Hood. How awesome would The Golden Age be?

The trailer showed me absolutely nothing. Guys hitting each other and blowing stuff up. I'll agree that in and of itself, that is pretty cool, but there is no lead in to what the story line is.

All of the recent direct to DVD DC animations have been pretty heavily action oriented.

And their sales continually go up. Though, this Red Hood cartoon might affect that trend.

I've found most of the Lion's Gate/Marvel titles, sleepy in comparison.

Just watched B:UTRH on Blu-Ray.

I feel this is probably the best d-t-v release so far from Warner Premiere. This is interesting for me to say, since I'm not at all a Winnick fan. I haven't liked some of his choices in the past, but I do think this was a pretty good story. It is my understanding from those who have read the Red Hood story from the comics that this is, of course, an abridged version. These same folks who told me this also tell me that they actually like this version, this rewrite from Winnick, better than what was printed in the comics. I have to say, I thought the animation, characterization and pace was superb. It made be forget that this is just a 1 hour and 10 minute movie. The final words of the film are haunting.

Y'know, Summer Glau is voicing Kara Zor-El in the upcoming animated release. I wonder if she could play Supergirl in a live action film? She'd need to color her hair and have blue contact lenses, but other than that... I think she could pull it off.

I'm hearing rave reviews for this movie from the non-comic posters on my local movie board.

It doesn't surprise me. Bruce Greenwood's voice as Batman fit very well. The Joker was great. And the climax pretty much defined Batman as a character and demonstrated why he doesn't kill people... and it was done with great intensity and didn't come off even remotely sappy (as such moments can easily come off as). The last line of the movie is also a perfect, perfect ending.

It was... short. But like the Spectre short, it is very very polished.

Well they are releasing a compilation of them that you can probably rent, headed up by the new Superman/Shazam: The Return of Black Adam 22 minute short. It annoys me that I will have to purchase a whole dvd just to see the one previously unreleased short. Warner Brothers does this type of thing a lot. Their promised Batman:The Brave and the Bold Season One set is now Season One, Part One. Just trying to squeeze out a few more bucks here and there. I want to support these ventures but these tactics do bother me.

Maybe they wouldn't be doing that if the cartoon wasn't being canceled.
