I asked for one of those Revell Viper model kits for Christmas.

Not in 1979, mind you. It was this year.

I'm trying to find an image of the Star Wars board game I had as a kid. You had to destroy the Death Star and the center of the board was a spinning Death Star. You'd have to circle it until you able to attempt your trench run, then land directly on the venty thing.

You're getting confused with my in-sink food disposal.

I would love to have that, that's awesome.

They really didn't change the BSG design that much in the new one.

Never realized how close they were until now.

I had a Star Wars board game, with the Death Star as the "board". You had to move your Luke/Leia and Han/Chewie game pieces over the board, using the spinner for moves, take out the tractor beam and get the plans, then at the end you got to the Falcon. Apparently your game would be the sequel!

Oh, here's the game I had:

Come to think of it, I still have it, at my grandparents house. I played it with my son one day when we were over there visiting!

How'd I miss this? My friend had that thing, and once in a while he would bring it over to play. It was the most awesome toy ever, to my young mind. I thought of different ways it could be mine, most involving harm to him... :)

It was perfect scale for the Star Wars figures, Mego Pocket Superheroes, and Micronauts, so I had everybody living in a shared universe. The Falcon got blown up, so Han bought an Eagle to use as the Falcon II. What was real fun was having them try and fight off the Shogun Warriors!
Mazinga would kick everyone's ass!

This was in the days before the small GI Joes. Imagine all the fun I could have had with those thrown in the mix!

Exactly, Hugh. There was also a series of action figures from Fisher Price called "the Adventure People" who fit nicely with the Star Wars and such toys. My friends and I made HUGE elaborate playtimes. I even had an old air hockey table (no legs, sat on the ground about 6 inches high) that we used for the "base". It could either be in a bubble on a planet, or it could be in the ocean, and the grass was water. :) Fun, fun times. I wish we'd had "Justice League Unlimited" figures back then, I could have had the superheroes too, perfect size!

Many toys today, sadly, are made for people our age to never take out of the box. I got the kids a bunch of Star Wars toys last Christmas, and man are they fragile! My OLD toys are still going strong, and my kids play with them (yes, even the "valuable" old Star Wars toys).

The Battlestar Galactica action figures just sucked ass. I had Daggit and an Ovion and a Cylon... avoided the rest like the plague when I was 8.

Black Hole Action Figures... I had the non-trashed one... really wanted the trashed one, but I don't think I ever found it in the 20 seconds that you could actually find Black Hole action figures.

Always wanted this one. You could look through the back of his head through his bionic eye.
