I think you did a pretty good job keeping the three different greens looking too much alike.

Maybe some more separation in the rubble between the foreground and background? And Rhino get's just a bit lost in there.

But what do I know? I use the wrong lineweights on a huger Perez piece, so.... :)

Agreed. Good to see new work. That latest piece looks very professional, Derek. Could easily be a TPB cover.

Thanks Joe. It's reassuring to know that with some great advice and lots of practice I can actually get better at this.

Thanks guys. It looks even better when it's not being compressed by Photoshop and then by Photobucket. GRRRR!

Your work is superb, Derek, but may I offer a humble suggestion?

Tone down the highlights a bit-- everything looks a bit too shiny, like they're plastic action figures.

Just my opinion, keep up the good work!

But I like plastic action figures. All kidding aside, there has been a major shift in my approach recently. Most of it centered around creating more value. Unfortunately, when using more value the highlights can get pretty bright, so that is probably what is turning you off. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment though.

i like the way(and am envious ) of how good youve gotten.Shouldnt the winsome Wasp be much more bright and in your face than she is though? shes the nearest foreground element . i think i need a bigger scan to check ;)

It's very clear you're heading in the right direction; I'd concentrate on making things appear less "smooth" and add some texture with your colors at this point.

Yellowjacket is one of my all time faves. Couldn't help waxing nostalgic about MTU 59 and Avengers 164 while working on this. To think there was a time when Hank wasn't a wife beater and the Wasp wasn't an appetizer on the Blob's menu. Sigh.

Really felt as though the warm windows were competing too heavily with YJ's uniform so decided to cool it down a bit with this variant. Think we're definitely getting better plane seperation now.

I think the cool windows are better.

I'd like to see a bit more rendering in the tornado part of that dude. I'm not sure exactly what, but something. More dark darks and more light hightlights? Dunno...

Love the underlighting YJ is getting.
