I wonder how they decided on this version of the album itself. As I recall, the original vinyl L.P. had a different track listing/order than the first CD and I think there have been a few different versions of the CD track listing/order.

I like the decision to include demos... because there have been too many remixes of their very few songs. Many of them quite bad.

But what I'd really have liked to have seen is the music video of Reagan and Breshnev fighting in a mud pit (for Two Tribes). Haven't seen that since MTV.

I actually wouldn't have minded a few more of the original remixes being included because as far as I know they have never been collected in one place. While there were remix albums released over the years, I think they mainly consisted of "new" (at the time) mixes in whatever was the hip style that year.

Also, a track called "Happy Hi" was included on that first CD version of the album, and it doesn't appear here.

On the other hand, I could live without "One September Monday" and "One February Friday" which as I recall were basically interview tracks.

I think this is the first version on CD:

01 - The World Is My Oyster (Including Well/Snatch Of Fury) 01:58
02 - Welcome ToThe Pleasure Dome 13:39
03 - Relax 03:56
04 - War 06:13
05 - Two Tribes 09:07
06 - Including The Last Voice 01:14
07 - Born To Run 04:05
08 - Happy Hi 04:11
09 - Wish (The Lads Were Here) 02:48
10 - Including The Ballad Of 32 04:49
11 - Krisco Kisses 02:58
12 - Black Night White Light 04:08
13 - The Only Star In Heaven 04:16
14 - The Power Of Love 05:32
15 - Bang 01:08

Here's the second CD version I had:

01 - The World Is My Oyster 01:58
02 - Welcome To The Pleasure Dome 13:40
03 - Relax 03:56
04 - War 06:13
05 - Two Tribes 03:28
06 - (Tag) 00:35
07 - Fury 01:49
08 - Born To Run 03:58
09 - San Jose 03:11
10 - Wish The Lads Where Here 02:48
11 - The Ballad Of 32 04:48
12 - Krisco Kisses 02:58
13 - Black Night White Light 04:08
14 - The Only Star In Heaven 04:16
15 - The Power Of Love 05:31
16 - Bang 01:07

I think the 2000 reissue is the same as the second version shown here, with the addition of the following:

17 - One September Monday 04:50
18 - One February Friday 04:57

I could definitely do with "Happy Hi" being restored...certainly a much better track than the talkies.

So with this and the Zang Tumb Tuum box set, does this mean Salvo will be revisiting all the classic ZTT records? I'd love to see a deluxe (Who's Afraid of) The Art of Noise?

It looks like there's a Japanese Deluxe Edition already out, but Amazon doesn't give the track listing.

My buddy picked up a four-disc Art of Noise boxed set recently. It has several alternate and work-in-progress versions of the "(Who's Afraid...)" material, probably more than most people would want to hear, but interesting listening for fans.

This Japanese ZTT set that came out last year is not the same as the new Salvo issue. The second disc of the Japanese set has:

1. Relax (Sex MIx)
2. Two Tribes (Carnage)
3. Welcome to the Pleasure Dome (Bernard Rose Video Soundtrack)
4. The Power of Love (Instrumental Version)
5. War (Hidden)
6. Relax (International/Live)
7. Two Tribes (Annihilation)
8. One September Monday
9. Ferry Cross the Mersey

Amazon has this title listed as an import (in the U.S.) for next Tuesday, but I just bought a copy of it at my local record store (thank heavens I have one nearby) the other day. The bonus content is quite nice - I forgot how annoying the interview tracks were (all that production/effects/reverb makes them semi-indecipherable) but the rest is quite neat. It's cool that they sprung to include lesser-known mixes (the "Greatest Bits" version of "Relax" is the entirety of the cassette single mix) and the demos as well ("Two Tribes," my favorite track on the record, had an interesting, slightly different arrangement and "War" was much simpler).

If you're not a ZTT fanatic or a gotta-have-it catalogue enthusiast, it's not a necessary addition to your collection, but after going through a copy or two of the record myself I am satisfied with this set.

Mine arrived today from Amazon.co.uk, and I'm very impressed. Sound is excellent and, as Mike says, the bonus content is fun. Would have killed the interview tracks in favor of including "Happy Hi," but it was definitely worth the purchase to me.
