The 5 Keys were a ‘Groups' Group’. Formed as early as 1945, as The Sentimental four, they were inevitably influenced by The Mills Brothers and The Ink Spots. In early 1949, they decided to change their sound, adding second tenor Edwin Hall as a fifth member. They developed their breathtaking ‘floating tenor' sound, which influenced every vocal group to come. The Five Keys enjoyed scores of R&B hits in the 1950s, and they are all here, along with a treasure trove of unreleased genius sides. I have not heard of these guys, but I like the write up and the song titles, and the Mills' Brothers influence has got to be a plus. I'm going to check this out.

I highly recommend this group. Never thought I'd see another reissue of their music.

I agree with GoogaMooga, the band is fantastic and worth checking out.

One of my favorite re-sale shop finds was a copy of the censored Capitol album cover where one of the group members hands is inadvertanly placed in the wrong position and it makes it look like a penis is coming out of his pants~
