I've been speculating quite a bit on what an Apple Tablet computer would be like,
and I keep coming back to the idea that it would be self-contained (essentially a
large iPod Touch, portable movie player, netbook, etc), but have kept believing that
would be even more useful as an input and output device:

• drawing tablet
• portable hard drive
• mouse
• keyboard
• TV remote
• Phone, Camera, Microphone / Multimedia input

Plop down in front of your desktop computer, and it becomes a keyboard and
mouse, drawing tablet, and remote hard drive (ala Blue Tooth perhaps). I wasn't
quite sure if people would enjoy touching a glass screen to use it as a keyboard...

Easily take this thing from home, on the road, to work, etc. It takes your life with you,
and then interfaces with all of the rest of your electronic devices everywhere.

I had a table (Acer) for a couple of years. Wasn't crazy about it.

If it exists (this time; people have been speculating about it for about a decade),
one would have to assume that it would be awesome. It's a lot of hype to live
down. I think making the thing your everyday device and i/o device to everything
else would be the way to go about it.

I got a used Newton about five years ago. Rather slick.

Yes, it was awesome. I need to figure which box mine is in and see if I can get it talking to my MacBookPro...

Hmmm. With a touch anywhere screen.

If they come out with this, and announce full color swiping digital books, it will kill the Kindle ad other e-readers. Why buy those when you can get an Apple tablet and watch videos etc. And to be able to read comics and swipe the pages like a real book, that would be awesome.

Well, for one, the Kindle will be quite a bit cheaper.

But yes, if the tablet (slate) is essentially a computer, it will be more functional, and therefore, more fun.

More functional, full color and could do other things with it.

WANT. I hope I have a job by the time it comes out so I can snag one. I'll read lots of comics on it.

So, it's possible that the tablet will be way more awesome than we think.

Ahawhawhaw. An extension of the Blackberry, looks like. Little did they know. The iPhone absolutely blew everyone away. Did you notice the very next phones from many companies were copycat touchscreen phones?

The touchscreen technology had arrived -- it was coming one way or another.

Well, Apple did multitouch before anyone. They even bought out the company that invented it before that company could release anything.
