I'm going to be around sporadically this weekend, so here's a head start Thanksgiving greetings to all of you who celebrate it. (Heck, I hope even those of you who don't celebrate it have a good weekend, too. That's just the kinda guy I am.) For those of you making the commute to MOC, say "Hi" to Uncle Rog for me. (Rog, since you may be reading this yourself, just give yourself a quick "Hello" from me as you're shaving in the morning.) No matter where you're travelling this weekend, do it safely and come back to tell us all the tales of your weekend. I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving at no less than two places on Thursday, so I should be about 10 pounds heavier. Though I'll be working some of that off on Friday with shopping.

When I was in college I worked at a grocery store. The night before Thanksgiving was a madhouse at that place.
The store was usually jam-packed with people who waited until the very last minute to get their food ... a number of whom were very irate when we would run out of frozen pie crusts or Cool Whip.
The funny thing is that my LCS is in the same mini-plaza as the grocery store ... so I need to go early to get my comics today or I won't likely be able to find a parking spot.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Jim

It's that time again, and this year Melissa will be celebrating Thanksgiving in Australia to honour all her American friends at IMWAN.

Merry Christmas, IMWAN!!!
Sorry, guys, I know I'm early. I love this time of year. I've already broken out the Christmas songs on my MP3 player, and the tree is going up Friday. Saturday is when I've scheduled my "Clark W. Griswald Impersonation Contest" as I try to cover my house in enough lights to make it visible from space.

Ian Sokoliwski wrote: What's it like living in a country where you are consistently over a month late for Thanksgiving? No, really, I want to know. Thanksgiving in both countries is tied to the end of harvest times. Since Canada is further north, harvest occurs earlier there. Canadian Thanksgiving used to be celebrated on November 6th. After World War I, Canada began to celebrate Armistice Day (later Remembrance Day) on November 11th. Then in the 1930s, Canada moved its Thanksgiving holiday back to the second Monday in October in order to separate the two holidays. In the US, Thanksgiving was celebrated in November, but the actual date was inconsistent until 1941, when Congress named the fourth Thursday in November as Thanksgiving. As to what it's like celebrating it "late," it's fun! In many ways, it's like having five weeks of holiday times, beginning with Thanksgiving and ending with New Year's Day.
