Only one for me, Desmond Dekker at the annual Roskilde Festival. Got a handshake!

I wanted to see The Ethiopians, but found out about it too late. Also had a ticket for an earlier Demond Dekker gig, but forgot to go!!! Desmond Dekker is the King of Rocksteady, though.

Rocksteady is a style of Jamaican music predating Reggae. Kinda like ska, but slower.

Thank you, Hank. That's really good. I'm impressed with just that video. I think I've heard a couple of songs in that video that I thought were rock and pop songs....so it's actually that they're really Reggae originally?Like, People Get Ready by Rod Stewart, for example?

I dunno much about Reggae. Are there any artists that you would recommend who are great at that for beginners? Please and thanks in advance.

It's cliche, but Bob Marley and The Wailers were awesome. Also, Peter Tosh was great. The Equals who had Eddy Grant later of "Electric Avenue" fame were also really good. There's so many artists in Reggae!

Ok, thanks. That'll give me a head-start. I appreciate the advice, and I'm sure you have good taste in music, so I'll look those artists up online.

I've heard of him. :ohyes: He writes songs and posts them for subscribers of his website. That seems like a smart way to do it, don't you think?

Knowing Francine's love of '60s pop, The Equals are indeed great.

The Clash famously covered this Equals tune:

Again, the guitar effects are amazing! :ohyes: I like the sound and it's really different from what's out there now. I don't really know much about the Clash, though. I think I know one or two of their songs. I appreciate your sharing these, Hank.

Rocksteady only lasted about five years, from the mid-60's to around 1970. The Gaylads is another big rocksteady act.
