Or whatever. I can't remember when it came out. I just got done reading this column on CBR, celebrating the boldness and originality of the work. At the time, it was the first project of Miller's I disliked-- up until then, he was my favorite comic book creator. I was stunned at how bad it seemed at the time and was really let down, as it seemed everyone else was. Over the last few years, however, I keep seeing supporters of this project pipe up and say it's the most daring thing Miller's done, that it's great, misunderstood, and maligned. I just ordered a hardback to re-read this legendary work from amazWAN and am wondering what the rest of you think, lo these many years later.

I hated it. It was a huge disappointment.

I don't remember, I have the issues at the house and may re-read it one day.

Still a fan of Year One and Dark Knight, but have no interest in re-reading this piece of shite anytime soon. Along with Spawn/Batman and All-Star Batman, DKSA completes a unique trilogy of crap but a writer I once revered on a character I still do.
No longer interested in seeing Miller piss all over the DC stable of characters.

When I first read it: Really good work, I love how different it is than all other comics. This is how I voted.
Now: Not so much.

I wonder how the reaction would have been if someone like Dave Mazzuchelli or Steve Rude drew this series.
Oddly, I'd really love to see Mike Allred adraw it and Laura Allred color it.

Actually, it would have been AWESOME if they did the same kind of art they did on Elektra Lives Again for this book.

"Dark Knight Strikes Again" was one of those moments when at least some of the crowd finally realized that the Emperor really had no clothes.

I don't think that's true; I think the people that disliked it just thought that this book in particular wasn't good but still liked his previous work.

Now: Not so much. You know what? I'm mixed up between this, Year One, and The Killing Joke... I really liked it when it came out, now it's still OK with me if taken as it was meant to be - an alternate future that might happen. When Year One came out, I loved it. Now, I don't care for the more seedy parts. Totally unnecessary. The art is wonderful. Killing Joke - First came out I was floored! Loved it. Now - don't care for the whole shooting Barbara thing. Again, it's an OK story if taken as it was meant to be - alternate time line. The art, of course, what the best thing I'd ever seen.

I still love both Year One and DKR and regard them as two of the best superhero books ever. I never saw the big deal about Killing Joke, other than the Bolland art. I really love Alan Moore's work, but that Batman story is somewhat underwhelming.
