Welcome to the Pre-Order Deptartment for Frank Zappa's Philly '76!

We expect this item to ship on or around Friday December 18, 2009"

No track list yet but...

The "who played this show" and the "what did they play"
Unsure of whether or not it's a complete show.

Spectrum Theater in Philadelphia show from 29 October 1976. Band was FZ, Bozzio, Ray White, Patrick O'Hearn, Eddie Jobson and Bianca Thornton. Set list was: Purple Lagoon intro/Stink-Foot/Poodle Lecture/Dirty Love/Wind Up Workin' In A Gas Station/Tryin' To Grow A Chin/The Torture Never Stops/City Of Tiny Lites (incl. The Sanzini Brothers Pyramid Trick)/You Didn't Try To Call Me/Manx Needs Women/Titties 'N' Beer/Black Napkins/Advance Romance/Honey, Don't You Want A Man Like Me?/Rudy Wants To Buy Yez A Drink/Would You Go All The Way?/Daddy Daddy Daddy/What Kind Of Girl Do You Think We Are?/Dinah-Moe Humm/Purple Lagoon reprise/Stranded In The Jungle/Find Her Finer/Camarillo Brillo/Muffin Man/Purple Lagoon outro.

I'm going to order this......was a really good tour.....w/ Flo & Eddie. I think the only boot I have is the Detrroit show....the version of Black Napkins is great.

I know it will never happen, but I wish they'd go earlier in the year and release a complete Zappa/Beefheart show. Bongo Fury is one of my favorite albums.

The auddy recordings from the Boston shows (show #1 specifically) are quite good

1976 10 24 - Boston Music Hall, Boston, MA
Early show
105 min, Aud, A/A-
110 min, Aud, B+
The better sounding recording ends after Dinah-Moe Humm.

The Purple Lagoon, Stinkfoot, The Poodle Lecture, Dirty Love, Wind Up Workin' In A Gas Station, Tryin' To Grow A Chin, The Torture Never Stops (q: Mystery Song #2), City Of Tiny Lights, You Didn't Try To Call Me, Manx Needs Women, Titties 'n Beer, Black Napkins, Advance Romance (q: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida), Honey Don't You Want A Man Like Me?, Rudy Wants To Buy Yez A Drink, Dinah-Moe Humm, The Purple Lagoon, Stranded In The Jungle, Muffin Man, The Purple Lagoon.

Late show
110 min, Aud, B+
The Purple Lagoon, Stinkfoot, The Poodle Lecture, Dirty Love, Wind Up Workin' In A Gas Station, Tryin' To Grow A Chin, The Torture Never Stops, City Of Tiny Lights (with Bamboozled By Love vocals), You Didn't Try To Call Me, I'm So Cute, Titties 'n Beer, Black Napkins, Advance Romance (q: I'm In The Mood For Love, Isn't It Romantic?, Any Kind Of Pain, Tequila), The Purple Lagoon, What Kind Of Girl Do You Think We Are?, Muffin Man, The Purple Lagoon

Yeah, I'm havin this. Zappa in NY was my first FZ album and still one of my favorites - this was the core band from the album. Zappa was on SNL around this time as well.

That early Boston show has the best-ever "Black Napkins". :ohyes:

Not if it follows their latest releases, or at least not for quite a while. I believe some of the other titles that showed up in stores took about a year to get there, for the most part. I decided not to wait this time.

It will take awhile but it SHOULD show up at your local Indy store or online at Amazon or CD Universe. maybe someday at Best Buy - maybe but never at Walmart.

Got the ship notice, but not the CD. It threw me because I'd kind of forgetten about it and I'd just ordered the second disc of the Kiss Live Concert set from the Pittsburgh show, and when I saw Philly, I thought they'd screwed up. Then I remembered it was the Zappa set, and now I'm anxious for the FedEx man to show.
