Apple did a good job of timing their new releases this week too, eh?

Anyone who is purchasing this, I would be curious to hear reviews for my gf...

I've been running the final release for about two months now. It's a vast improvement over Vista; much "snappier". Gone is the taskbar as we knew it, with little rectangles for each window. It's essentially more like Apple's dock. I do have trouble finding simple things, like add/remove programs...but I had that with Vista too, which I only used for about three or four months; I avoided it like the plague. It's not a radical change from Vista, but it is from XP, where I spent most of the last decade. After using it for a while, I'm very pleased. After using Vista for a week, I was very frustrated (slow, unpredictable crashes, etc).

I dislike having to relearn everything, but it sounds like 7 is everything that Vista wasn't. What about the incessant nagging? Did they do away with that from Vista?

It's very easy to turn off in both Vista and 7. The difference being, with Vista when you turned it off sometimes things broke; with 7, it seems to actually work properly.

I got 7 Monday and I really like it.

Got my pre-ordered copy for $39.95 (about an $80 savings!). Waiting to install it until I have a good day or so to devote to the project, but I'm looking forward to it.

My upgrade to Ultimate 7 was $32 plus tax.

Yeah, I'll probably get one from them eventually, too. Or I may wait until
Boot Camp is set to work with it (sounded like early in 2010). Or, perhaps
I'll give it a try in Virtual Box (if VB supports it).

My copy should be here next week. PC World needs me to upgrade in order to continue reviewing.

I've been running the Release Candidate since about a week after its was released. Pre-ordered my upgrade back in August and according to tracking should be getting to me in the next few days.

Just got a laptop with 7. If it worke well with my wife's medical billing, we will upgrade the PC.

That attendee guy? He and others like him are the reason that Linux never took off as it could have. I'm not suggesting it would ever have the audience that Windows does, but it sure could have a bigger user base if not for those elitist tools.

I've been running this since Beta 2. I threw everything at it. C#, Command & Conquer, WoW, Office, OpenOffice, Gimp.... Works like a charm. I've moved to the 64-bit version. So far so good.

My copy came today. Can't wait to install it.

Had to get a replacement video card as my old one fried during the changeover - I think I had the wrist strap off and it was a bit of static.

So now I have Windows 7. I can notice the speed increase, likely because I'm running x64 now and it has access to all 4 gigs of RAM - and I like the extra new features like pinning things to the dock.

Plus it restarts a fair bit quicker.

I've noticed all that as well Steve. I'm running 6 gig of RAM on the x64.

6GB of RAM, Intel i7 quad-dual core processor here, x64 Windows 7 Pro. It's heaven.

I heard you can find Vista in the frozen section of your PC.

I got the same model video card as I got back in January, but they revised the board and it's $20 cheaper. It now has native VGA and HDMI directly instead of using a DVI adapter. Great!

I know what a quad core is, and a dual core, but what's a quad-dual? Eight cores?
