This should be one of the best Garcia releases yet. The band in this period was Garcia, Nicky Hopkins, John Kahn and Ron Tutt. They had an interesting repertoire including a long jam on Let's Spend the Night Together->Jamming with Edward. Apparently neither show's tapes were usable in their entirety but an excellent compilation has been assembled.

No, best I can tell this is volume 2 of the series that started with the Legion of Mary release.

A pre-order is up on DNC. You can pair it with the new Road Trips for free shipping.

The Jerry Garcia Collection, Vol. 2: Jerry Garcia Band, Keystone Berkeley '75

$19.98
Jerry Garcia Collection, Vol. 2
Let It Rock

Jerry and Nicky Let It Rock at Keystone Berkeley!

The latest release to come from the Garcia vault is Let It Rock: Jerry Garcia Band 1975 a 2-CD set recorded November 17 and 18, 1975 at the Keystone Berkeley, featuring the very first version of the Jerry Garcia Band, with the magnificent British pianist Nicky Hopkins, drummer Ron Tutt and ol’ reliable—bassist John Kahn. This marks the first-ever full release of material from the brief but fruitful Garcia-Hopkins union (August through December ’75), and it shows the group at its best, rolling though a broad range of styles, from the churning opener, “Let It Rock,” to Dead favorites like “Sugaree,” “They Love Each Other” and a lively “Friend of the Devil,” to boppin’ R&B—“Tore Up Over You,” “Roadrunner”—a 19-minute workout (!) on the Stones’ “Let’s Spend the Night Together,” and Nicky’s exceptional instrumental track “Edward.”

The sound on these discs is impeccable: They were mixed from 16-track master tapes by Jeffrey Norman, who has mixed and mastered countless Dead-related projects through the years. The clarity of the vocals and instruments is absolutely stunning—it’s practically like being at the legendary Keystone Berkeley, except without that distinctive smell of beer and popcorn, and the clacking of the foosball table in the back room. The icing on this particular slice of psychedelic cake is a fine essay by David Gans which probes the Jerry-Nicky dynamic and offers some needed historical context. In short, this one is a must for Jerry freaks (and doesn’t that include all of us?)! To order your copy today, click here.

Curious if any one here pre-ordered via dead.net? I bundled with the new Road Trips (as well as the Winterland Box set).
I'm just curious if the fiasco they had during the box set has still been a problem; I understand they were not sending shipping confirmations with the box, and it was just showing up...so has anyone received the new releases yet?

I ordered the Winterland '77 through dead.net and had no difficulty getting it with bonus disc. There was no shipping confirmation email. I ordered the RT 3-1 and Jerry Vol 2 on Oct. 26 through their site. Confirmation of purchase email. I called yesterday and they hadn't been shipped yet. We shall see when I get them and if there is a shipping confrimation email. The nice, heavily accented, lady said I would be getting notice of shipping.

I pre-ordered the bundle, JG/RT. I didn't have any trouble at all with the 77 box, unless you count having to create a new account. But everything arrived in a timely fashion, no hassles.

Hi there, to any who have pre-ordered this JG/RT bundle from Dead.net - if you could drop a line when you received and/or if you receive a ship notice e-mail I'd grately appreciate it. Just too crazy to follow up with dead.net right now. Thanks so much for the consideration!

I've received the bundle, two days ago, but I never received a shipping notice. Everything arrived in good condition.

I've only given a cursory listen to both but the JG might be the best of any of the JG releases, in the top two or three anyway. Great sound and a full album of Hopkins' contribution makes for a fantastic set.

The RT 3.1 sounds much much better than the DP5 from earlier in the run. I don't know if the tapes were better or the mastering was better but the sound is rich and full.

Just felt like bringing this to the surface. I purchased this release, along with the RT 3.1 and the Winterland 77 box set.

I have to say, that all of these releases are stellar, both in performance and sound. While I believe there is something of value in most of their releases; I personally can not recall when a series of releases just jumped out at me in such a fashion, and to have so much of a good thing in such a short period of time makes for one happy Deadhead. While not everyone will want to get everything, I have to say, if one is a budget and MUST forgo the box set...this edition of RT is stellar! I can't turn away from it!
