This next straight to DVD feature from Warner Premiere/DC Universe could be one of the most promising yet. Based on a comic book story arc written by Jeph Loeb (who also wrote my favorite graphic novel Batman: The Long Halloween) it will follow the story of current president Lex Luthor using a meteor made of kryptonite that is on a collision course with earth to blame the man of steel for our impending doom. Soon Superman and Batman find themselves Public Enemies and the mismatched pair must try to work together. This particular story showcase's alot of other DC heroes, some out to catch Superman and Batman and others working to help the two clear their names. It's an action packed story that works to compare and contrast the two iconic heroes while showcasing many more and providing fans with alot of fan service and wish fulfillment moments.
The most exciting aspect of this latest feature besides the pairing of Batman and Superman is the pairing of two familiar old voice talents. Tim Daly (voice of Superman on Superman: The Animated Series) and Kevin Conroy (voice of Batman on Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Batman: Gotham Knight) will reprise their familiar roles of Superman and Batman respectively. Kevin Conroy will be more than familiar as the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne but Tim Daly hasn't voiced Superman since the original animated series (he was replaced on Justice League by George Newburn). This is the first time these talents have voiced the character's in a feature together since the successful three-part animated series crossover, The World's Finest. Also reprising his familiar role as the animated universe Lex Luthor is the great Clancy Brown.
