For the last year and a half I've been helping, through the internet, to get a book published in London by specialty small-press publisher, THE ROSE PRESS.
PEARLS FROM PEORIA, a marbled navy leather hardcover with gilt titles and cover collection of over 60 previously uncollected (and in several cases unpublished) stories, articles and poems by Hugo and Nebula Award-Winning Sci-Fi God, Philip Jose Farmer, is being published in December 2004. I have been copy-editing this thick (somewhere around 600 pages) book and written a number of introductions. As well, I contributed three original character portraits for the collection.
It's been a blast to work on it. Doc Savage fans should be particularly interested. Phil's screen treatment for the unfilmed sequel to George Pal's DOC SAVAGE: THE MAN OF BRONZE is included in this collection. An excerpt from the never completed final book in the DOC CALIBAN/LORD GRANDRITH series is included, along with a synopsis of where the book would have gone. Fans of Lovecraft should get a kick out this one. And besides all of that, there's tons of fun fiction and interesting non-fiction pieces throughout the book.
