The guy was a genius. He helped other directors and writers with their movies without credit IIRC.
He made the best date movies ever.

By the way, I'm Eric Stoltz in that movie. Which character are you? (You can cross genders, put that aside).

Much more of an influence, though, was Mary Stuart Masterson's character. To this day I have a thing for girls with short blond hair, punkish girls, and girls who play instruments - all directly traced back to her. Strangely, I was just telling someone about that yesterday. From Ferris Bueller's Day Off I'm easily Cameron.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles is my favorite, Ferris Beuller and Vacation also hold up to several repeated viewings. His movies were always amazingly quotable, and had some great soundtracks.
