Everyone here knows I am a hug fan of Earth 2 but what you might not know is I never liked most of the already published stories set there. I never cared for the JLA comic in the Silver Age as I always thought the writing and art was vastly inferior to Marvel at the time. So to me, its the concept I love more than the execution of it (so far).

That got me thinking about other concepts that COULD have been great, but never were. Anyone else have any thoughts on cool concepts and what they wish WOULD have been done with them?

A True Fact before the term was co-opted for more sinister purposes.

Also: The Star Wars series. First movie? Great. Second movie? Awesome. After that? Massive suck.

I think that it was mostly Sekowsky's art that made those stories unreadable. Dilin was being wasted on Blackhawk at the time. Dillin with Murphy Anderson, Sid Greene, or Joe Giella inking from the start would've helped that series a great deal. I say this because I enjoyed Fox on his other books, but Fox and Sekowsky made me pass on those books.

My first JLA that I bought off the rack was #64, the first issue that Sekowsky didn't draw. (And the JLA didn't even appear in that issue.)

The Lost in Space movie:
Stick with the original concept of Swiss Family Robinson in Space instead of making it an introspective look at a dysfunctional family.

Never a big fan of Dillin either though I do love Murphy Anderson. One of the all time greats. I still would love to see much better written, and drawn, Earth 2 stories.

Agree. I LOVE the old series, especially the first B&W season. the retro look, guns, ship etc. and just like Hollywood, they had to ruin it because God forbid a family get along and be a good escapist fantasy.

Captain America. As a concept, he was awesome, but the only times he was good were his WWII adventures, the recent Brubaker series, and his appearances in the Avengers. As a comic, I felt the stories just didn't have any oomph to them.

Put me down for the Marvel Family. Except for the fun kid friendly books in the 40s, they have never reached their potential.

Other ones are:

    Nova
    Moon Knight
    Batgirl
    Captain Comet
    Adam Strange

"Battlestar Galactica." A migration through space in the face of hostile aliens is a great concept, but neither version of the series ever seemed to click for me.

Bannings: If you're not nice
Sekowsky is still the only artist who has ever made Wonder Woman look cute to me. Every other artist either makes her look angry, haughty, ugly, musclebound or a combination. Sekowsky's Wonder Woman was the kind of lady the men in the JLA would feel comfortable having around, since she looked and acted like an American woman, not "royalty" and certainly not a "goddess".

I love the old JLA stories and don't understand why they're so hated. They were cool Gardner Fox plots. I have a complete run up through the end of the chequerboard era and they still get re-read. You guys are way too harsh.

I miss Warlock from the New Mutants. Also, I miss the point that Spawn had. Did it ever make it back?

Iron Man is overdone. I'm sick of his I'm a drunk political savvy millionaire with robot problems. I know, I'll just build my anti Hulk suit. I would like to see Spiderman work with Banner and build Anti-Ironman tech.

I don't hate them, they just seem weak to me.

Same here. It's kind of Moses and the Israelites doing Exodus, but it never really clicked.

The original "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" series had several fantastically well-done (all things considered) episodes. No subsequent Scooby series ever lived up to that. Some of the more recent adventures are quite good and are technically well-done, but they don't quite manage to have the same perfect combination of elements to create that wonderfully spooky atmosphere of the best original shows.

I like the execution of the new Battlestar Galactica. The way the characters are developed and the way the story brings old plotlines forward was a good mechanic. There were definite weaknesses to the story in the 2 seasons I've seen. I thought Daybreak was underrated. Daybreak revolutionized the "Groundhog Day" story into a TV season.

I really enjoyed the month of kick Iron Man's @$$.

Spider-Man was only able to stop him temporarily, but he beat the suit.
Hulk just plain trashed him.
Thor, well, Thor just kicked his butt from here to Oklahoma.

And yet, now that Iron Man is down and out, I like him again.

When was this? Did I miss the part where Spiderman made a comeback in the Civil War or is this newer?

When Aunt May was dying, and Peter wanted Tony to put his money where his mouth is. Peter had already left the Avengers and Tony wasn't going to give him the time of day.

Asian culture.

It's been around for a while, and there were certainly some interesting ideas scattered throughout, but ultimately it didn't end up going anywhere.

Jet Li. That's my answer to the purpose of Asian culture. Now that the pinnacle has been reached I no longer see any need for China. Naruto caps Japan.

What's good in India these days?
