First a quick note about this blog: Since I already have a blog about politics, current events, and good looking women, I wanted what I blogged here to be a little different. So these will be things that come to me in the wee hours of the morning. Since this is as late as I will stay up today since I am weekending with the wife, this will have to do. The hour of composition will encourage introspection, but will also mean that it may not always make sense. And now the actual blog.
Back in the stone age, I used to watch the Jetsons with surprising cynicism for a youth. "Life could never be as easy as how George Jetson was living it." And yet, here I am, miles away from home, having an intimate moment with you before I have an intimate moment with my wife. ["Too much information!" the voices scream in unison.]
We are trying to decide between Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, or Filipino cuisine, all easily within reach of where we are staying. I can stay in touch with you all day while I am working. I can watch or listen to the Cleveland Indians all season long while living in North Carolina and traveling to South Carolina. Shoot, I can see whether or not a storm will be roaring through Cleveland from here.
You can track a hurricane's program from the coast of Africa to almost your front door (if you have a generator). You can help your boss get in touch with his family after hurricane Katrina knocked on their front door.
Yes, no one is flitting around the skies yet in arial traffic jams, and we don't have robots that wear aprons. But we can walk our dogs on treadmills if we're really that bored and / or lazy. And yes, some days, my button pushing finger does get tired.
I love living in the 21st Century. And it's a lot closer to the Jetsons than you think.

Bumping this from the former blog board just 'cos I like the sentiments.
