Looks like this thing is just around the corner. I must say, Hip-O Select is coming out gangbusters lately. http://twitpic.com/6xn9p

The musical soundtrack to my childhood wrapped in a box - perfect. I wore the grooves off his solo LP's as well as the J5 discs which always dovetailed each other nicely release-wise (you could barely save enough allowance for one before another was in the racks!). I'd play them all through the evening, but stopped at 8 p.m. because The Partridge Family was on ABC. It started all over again on Saturday morning after the J5 cartoons. I'm a 70's child for sure. "Hello World" was added to the main "Motown Select" window this morning. Only 7000 copies - should go really fast.
The Marvelettes collection is almost sold out but of course many of those will be available from second parties.
Harry Weinger is working on something big right now but he's not sharing it!

I was waiting for Amazon to make this available, but with his death I feared it might not ever get there. I can't believe the Marvelettes is almost sold out, who knew there were that many fans.

Agreed, I can't imagine HELLO, WORLD sticking around for very long. I was at two record stores last night and both were inundated with customers looking for MJ CDs -- this, before 8 pm and barely before the confirmation of his untimely death. I suspect lots of sellouts soon, particularly because there are so few deep catalog stores left that would have more than a couple copies of THRILLER or NUMBER ONES on hand. I hope a renewed interest in his music allows Michael to be remembered as the fine musician and entertainer he was; and not for his troubled personal life. His body of work deserves as much. RIP, Mr. Jackson.

I ordered the MJ box when I saw it listed last week.It arrived in the mail today.I didn't expect it until July since the release date was 7/3/2009.When I heard the news yesterday it made me sad.The same sadness I felt when we lost Garcia,Lennon and Elvis.Regardless of how his public life became a freak show in the last decade, MJ was a rare talent indeed. He is part of the soundtrack of my life and many other people as well.Even as my musical tastes changed as I grew older,I always enjoyed MJ's work.RIP Michael.May you find the joy you gave to me and millions of others wherever you may be.

His talent was exceptional, but you cannot separate his life from the music. His behavior was bizarre, and he basically paid off 2 families in lawsuits for reasons we all know. I think we will be hearing a lot more on what his life was like now that he is gone.

I don't see any mention of the 7000 unit limit anymore. It just says "Limited Edition". I'll bet the run just got seriously extended!

His Motown work was much better than casual fans give credit for. The Forever Michael album from 1975 in particular is very strong.

I'm listening to this now and it is FAR better than I expected. Ain't No Sunshine almost sounds like Funkadelic.
