I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, but the mention elsewhere of the forthcoming Cheap Trick DVD reminds me that I like to collect "greatest videos" collections on DVD. Which artists are deficient in this regard? Who needs a good video comp?
The Rolling Stones. Of course. Love to see an update of the old Video Rewind VHS collection with later 80s/90s/00s videos added. In fact, now that Universal distributes pretty much everything, why not include the 60s promotional films too?
Fleetwood Mac. Some of their videos are quite accomplished short films. They didn't even have a VHS collection. Seemed like a natural companion piece to Rhino's 2-CD best-of from a few years ago, but no luck.
Hall & Oates. ICE mentioned one in the works years ago, but it never materialized.
Rod Stewart. The bonus DVD with the latest CD comp is missing a whole lot of videos.
Who else? And if someone mentions an artist and you know of a good DVD comp, let us know!

It's got Palmer reminiscing about each video before it starts playing. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000UM080/?tag=imwan-20

+1 on the Beatles and Kate Bush.
Kiss. They've put out most of the videos in some form or another, but never a truly dedicated promo video collection. And I'd have to go back, but I'm not sure they've released clean, unedited versions of all the videos. "Sure Know Something" comes to mind (not sure if it's on one of the Kissology sets or not).
The Doors. Rick James (bitch!).

Alan I have a bootleg collection of KISS videos, but it varies wildly in terms of quality. Some are just cannibalized from exisiting home videos (which means the full clips aren't there) and others are sourced from TV, etc. Don't put the volume loud on the quieter ones, because you'll be startled to hell when the louder ones come on! I agree, Alan, KISS needs to put out a collection of their videos. Van Halen is another one -- the DVD they have out their now omits the promo and live videos from their first five albums and some videos from 1984-1996 are omitted.

Talk about a possible Mellencamp box set made me think we need a good video collection from him. The Words and Music CD set included a bonus DVD with a mere 5 videos.

I'd like to see sets from both Mott & The Tubes, both of which are said to be in pre-production.

Other than "Nine Hundred Nights", all of the Janis footage on DVD has come in multi-artist compliations such as "Festival Express". I'd like to see a DVD set devoted solely to collecting her performances in one place.

My MTV obsession has so far led to over 30,000 videos and no Rap or Country. But there's still plenty of rare 80s videos MTV2 skipped in their A-Z countdown I'd love to get. None will ever end up on anything released however. The recent CD/DVD combo releases of Ultravox and Thomas Dolby were first class and included every video-very nice. The transfer on all was not perfect but most were very good. Also, the recent Thin Lizzy greatest hits DVD collected every video as did the Rush "Retrospective III" with all the Atlantic-era videos. The Daft Punk CD/DVD combo has al their videos which are amazing as does the Primus "Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People" comp and talk about amazing videos!

I'd enjoy a quality copy of Peter Godwin's R-Rated Mtv style Images Of Heaven vid. I have a copy but it's from a couple VHS generations & I think it's also missing part of it.

I would like to see a compilation of videos directed by Godley & Creme, both their own and those done for other artists.

I love to see some of the Harry Nilsson stuff be released including the doc that was premiered in Santa Barbara about a year or two ago but then never released. I have some killer stuff from the BBC and all and this stuff needs to be out there.

Oh, also the complete Freddie Murcury tribute concert that I have on laser remixed in 5.1. That would be a treat!

I have all the videos (even hard to find ones like "You're The Voice"), but no, no official collection has ever been issued, most likely due to all the labels. Nancy looks so hot and/or cute in all of them (I also have her solo video for "All For Love" a great song) and I still think Ann looked good until the early 90s when she blew up.

I would like to see various artists video comps, with the emphasis on the visual aesthetic rather than the music. A lot of great songs have had awful videos and vice versa. What I'd like to see are some great isolated, memorable videos, like "Road to Nowhere", "Sledgehammer", "Let's Dance", "Praise You", and "Just Dance". Images that stay in your mind as much as or even more than the music they promote.
