So right now we have Comcast cable, TiVo HD and AT&T Yahoo DSL (plus a local phone).

Today we're switching to AT&T UVerse TV and Internet, which is fiber-optic. Ditching the local phone, which we only had for DSL, no phones plugged in.

The big drawback is that we lose TiVo and have to deal with AT&T's undoubtedly shitty DVR.

The upside is that Internet will be twice as fast (both downstream and upstream) for the same price. (going from 3M down, 512K up to 6M down, 1M up). And our total savings is $33/month. Plus UVerse is offering like a $200 check back and a $25 gift card back, which saves us even more.

We've resisted for so long because we love TiVo so much, but we can't justify the additional expense any longer.

I have uVerse. The InterNet is fine. We have the second fasted tier. Believe it or not, their DVR isn't all that bad.

I have CenturyTel fiber dsl. I get 15M and 10M up.

I'll never give up a wireline phone. Cell service is just not reliable enough.

I have DSL with no phone for 37 bucks. I use Vonage for phone, for 25 bucks. Directv for something over 70 bucks.

Going for the second fastest tier ("Elite") as well. Glad to know their DVR isn't awful. We had one from Insight awhile back that was mind-blowingly aggravating.

Right now we're paying $148 for TV, Internet and TiVo, and we'll soon be paying $115 for uVerse TV and Internet.

Nah, it will be fine. I've had very little to no problems with it. After you get used to navigating it and how to set it you'll kinda like it.

I have no cable or satellite, I think it's too expensive for the channels I'd watch or want for the kids. Netflix online and the network free viewing is good for me, among other options.

We don't do cable, either. I'm predicting after February there will be an explosion of over the air digital channels - PBS stations are already broadcasting 3 - 5 bands of programming and NBC has put up a 24 hour sports channel that currently is airing the full Olympic and Para-Olympic Games, all the events they never covered at the time - and the next step will be cable channels making their programming available through the syndication market. In large coverage areas, this probably will take a bite out of the basic cable market. And the advantages to small TV stations would be enormous if, say, they became the affiliate for The Discovery Channel's Over the Air programming.

I've got "limited cable" - which is just the broadcast channels, plus the local gov't access channels, C-Span, Weather Channel, Northwest Cable News, CBC, Discovery, Hallmark, and Fox Sports. It's like $13 a month, but it gives me a $15 discount on my cable internet. I'm up in the sticks, so I can't pick up any over the air channels anyway.

Have Verizon Fios's triple play (internet, phone, cable) for $99 plus tax. I add a movie package for $15.00.

I get hundreds of channels which for me is a good thing mentally

Everything is hooked up. Their DVR is easy to use, though it's no TiVo. The FiOS router is massive - about as big as a Playstation 2 or Wii - and also does wireless, rendering my wireless-G router useless. Enjoying the 2x as fast Internet.

I've got AT&T 6Mbps down DSL, Dish Network, local landline phone, and Sprint cell service.

I don't want to post what I pay a month. The mocking would be terrible. Suffice it to say that I should really look into bundling, but I'm afraid of becoming dissatisfied with one branch of the bundled services, and being unable to break away without losing the value of the bundle.

At a minimum, get Vonage and see if they can switch your local number. I pay $25 a month and have enjoyed great service for 3 years.

I have Comcast cable internet (12 Down, ~5 Up anytime I've checked).

I've got ooma (ooma.com / amazWAN) for VOIP calling and I Love This Thing! I paid 200 bucks upfront a year ago and I've never paid another phone bill since, nor will I. I've already made my money back and then some.

We also get the limited basic TV service, and with the switch over to broadcast digital, I get all of the broadcast stations in HD and many music and basic channels to my TV while also enjoying a savings on the internet, so I basically pay 4 dollars a month for cable.

I also have a roku for streaming netflix and will probably have a Blu-Ray before the end of the year. I am really happy with my setup.

About the Tivo, why did you have to get rid of it? Is it not compatible with AT&T? It's stand alone, and has its won monthly subscription, right? (Which is extremely distasteful to me, and the only reason I don't have one. If they got rid of the monthly rate, or made it more palatable, I would get one.)
