CLASSIC GI JOE TP VOL 01

Larry Hama, Herb Trimpe, Steven Grant (w) • Herb Trimpe, Don Perlin, Mike Vosburg (a) • J. Scott Campbell (c) The classic Marvel Comics G.I. Joe gets new life in this first collection of must-have Joe stories! This action-packed volume collects the classic G.I. Joe issues #1 to 10. Writer Larry Hama, the man irrevocably linked to G.I. Joe, guided the team for over ten years (and he returns to the characters next month in an all-new series!). Here, he is joined by an array of artists, including Herb Trimpe, Mike Vosburg, and Don Perlin.

Not a GI Joe fan. I remember browsing trough an issue because they had Spider-Man as a guest Star. Black costume. Thats why i know Lary hama was the writer. Wasn't that issue drawn by (a yet relatively unknow) Marc Silvestri by the way?

That'd be Transformers.

Issue 4, offhand. (or maybe 3)

Not Silvestri, but again, offhand.

If they're going to do the whole series, I'm in.

Thing is, I have those five Marvel trades already, I need them to get up to Vol. 6 at least before I start grabbing these. And I will, because I LOVED these books.

Stephane - that was Transformers issue 3 - Spidey never appeared in GiJoe.

Taft - same here - i was pissed Marvel stopped at issue 50...i hope IDW reprints the whole shebang including the Yearbooks...(great silent story in yearbook 3 as Scarlett and Storm Shadow attack the Cobra building to save Snake Eyes).

Thanks for the news, Rob! I'll look into possibly ordering this for the library.

My brother used to love those comics.

I just barely was a little too old for this. By the time it came out, I was starting to get a little to cool for the room.

This is the kind of thing where 2 or 3 years can make all the difference.

If they come out with a Vol. 6, will you buy all the volumes so that the trade dress matches?

Also i have to say i often mistake GI Joe for MASK.
GI Joes don't have masks right? Do they have Super-Powers? (Hi Tech stuff... like a special car or special weapons...)?

GIJOE don't have masks. (some do, but it's not a theme)

BUT Hasbro just released a 'Specialist Trakker' figure in their GIJOE 25th Anniversary line, which is actually of Matt Trakker, the main guy from MASK. So there is a connection now. (other than the fact that Hasbro bought out Kenner, who were the makers of MASK I think?)

GIJOE varied over the toyline's initial run. It started off pretty well-grounded in real world tech with basic adjustments, and grew more outlandish as the years grew on.
