So I am filling out my Christmas list and want to put some Scrooge Trades on there.

Where is the best place to start?

I don't want to pay 10 bucks for 64 pages. Would rather have something meaty.

Ideally it would be an omnibus or some kind of a collection that has many in the series (assuming I dig what I read, I want to get the next thing)

Anyone with knowledge that can point me in the rigt direction

Seriously ... Jeff can walk you through the best ones, I'm sure. He loves Donald and family. Jeff is totally ducked up.

If they ever come out with that new color version of the Carl Barks Library,
and if you could afford them, that's what I would buy.

Current Scrooge trades:
Carl Barks:
Disney Presents Carl Barks' Greatest Ducktales Stories Volume 1
Disney Presents Carl Barks' Greatest DuckTales Stories Volume 2
Don Rosa:
The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck
The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Companion
Various (incl. Rosa and Barks)
Walt Disney Treasures - Uncle Scrooge: A Little Something Special

The color version of the Barks library is still due to come out, but is extremely expensive. I'd stick with the above. There are also still some Gladstone comics in print at $9.99 for ~80 pages, which contain Barks stories.

Anyplace on the Net I can find-out info about the Barks Library, and when it might come out.

Hmmm. I see Amazon still lists my back order of the Carl Barks color library to be November 10, 2008,
but I can't find a listing for it anymore anywhere on Amazon. Very odd.

I have asked David Gerstein repeatedly at the Disney comics forum (he's the archive editor for Gemstone, the Disney comic publisher), and he refuses to answer, or cannot answer. He responds to other questions (including some of mine), so it's not a case of him just ignoring me altogether. Who knows? :sigh:
