What do you know, I ended up posting a second thread after all. I'm a little nervous posting this because to be completely blunt I'm afraid posting what's essentially a glorified selfie will make me look a bit egotistical, but I digress. I occasionally create digital art and this is my second self-portrait. It was made in Photoshop, using a few filters and TONS of gradients and brushstrokes.

The obvious comparison to Degas aside, this is lovely. I especially like the use of the colour pink throughout. You're so talented, Christine!

I would have believed this was a painting.

Well, if you insist. But I honestly don't really think much of it. Next I'm probably going to do a still life.

Both paintings are excellent.

Love this. Have had some nice results myself with some photos but I usually don't have the patience to manipulate them much after the filters so they don't look quite this painterly. Excellent work.

Thank you, Rick, but I've seen digital sketching programs like that, and I can already imitate the necessary filters in Photoshop with a little creativity. Besides, I have to paint the brushstrokes by hand in PS, and those programs- when used directly on a photo- simply cannot calculate the direction of the brushstrokes on details like clothing and facial features. I have experimented with them in the past, though. It was... interesting.
