Darwyn Cooke did some pretty spiffy covers for the Monsters and Madmen box set...

But I love the original posters for the flicks, so here's my take on the covers:

Thanks Ross, they were fun to put together. Especially the cover for The Haunted Strangler, which started out looking like this:

Here's a couple quickies:

I've only watched Corridors of Blood from the set so far (very good film, I wouldn't classify it as a horror movie), but First Man into Space does have good reviews. Amazon has it on their Instant Video if you don't want to buy the set.

New ones:

Here's a bunch I finished over the last couple days.

A couple versions for Fritz Lang's 1931 M:

A cover for the 1951 version:

And a few variants of a cover that's a revamp of a cover I did ages ago that was crap.

Here's another that I could find no usable original art for. Made the cover entirely from screenshots from the film.

I have this as an AVI file which I'm going to convert to DVD. So I did a label and a menu for it along with the cover.

Here's the shots I used to put it together:

I really like the 1931 M cover. They're all good, but I like that one.

Thanks John. I fiddle with that set a long time.

Love 'em. You've got a great feel for doing these. I think your covers are probably better than some of the actual movies... :)

Won't the pink keep boys away? Maybe a green background...

Don't fear the PINK! :)

The front was originally a very small version of the French (I think) cover, I liked the contrast it had so I left it.

Thanks.

There's quite a few covers I've done knowing the movie was complete shit, but the posters I found to work with were awesome. I think a couple of them are listed in the 100 worst movies of all time according to the IMDB.

Here's a couple covers for a movie that doesn't completely suck. :D

It'd be neat if you started with episode 1 and did covers for every MST3K movie ... and then put "Shadowramma" outlines of the characters on the bottom of the covers. :)

That would be a lot of covers. According to Wikipedia there were 198 episodes.

Speaking of covers for movies that suck, watch out for the killer tree from hell.
