Yeah, I recently managed to get ahold of some hi-rez art for a change. Only problem is that it's not inked.

The pencils are rather tight tho, and I have a back-up plan for cleaning them up real good, but I've also gotten advice from the man that was generous enough to give it to me. :)

Quote:
the piece was never inked.

You might try Joe Rubestein or Bob McLeod or Al Vey or Mike Perkins or Terry Austin or BobLayton for inking - just to name a few
Now, I've been checking these out, and as I'm a very very poor lad, I've started to go over my options here.

1. Pseudo-inking of my own in Illustrator and Photoshop

2. Talking to some of my artist-friends if they want to ink it. Might be tricky, since none of them are Thor-fans as far as I know.

3. Commission one of the professionals listed. This is the hardest part, because I don't have any money really... I'm an unemployed student living off of some stashed together gold and a 220$ monthly support from the government.

What I'm thinking tho... is that maaaybe, one of these guys would be interested in a trade? All I've got is my hand and my new wacom, perhaps one of them is willing to let me work it off? It would probably be good training anyway. It would appear as if Bob McCloud has the lowest prices btw.

What do you guys think?

Why have it inked?
Get some "fixative" from an art supply house.
It's a spray that apparantly keeps the pencils from fading.
Frame it youself.
Enjoy it.
It's a George Perez. Why mess with perfection?

Good luck regardless of what you do.

No no no. You misunderstood me. I don't have a real drawing, I have a high-quality scan. I'm a hobby-colourist and I I'm always looking for good art to colour. This is one of those good arts that I want to colour.

It's all in the computer. In order to do a good quality job, I need something that will look good enough to colour. And just colouring this piece as it is, raw, will simply not look as good as if it was a finished inked piece by Perez.

That's why I need the inks. :)

I'm trying option A, the pseudo-inking right now, and using Illustrator at the fine illustration setting is tearing my feeble computer apart. Not sure this is going to end well...

Judge WAN is a good digital inker. You could try him.

Well, it didn't end well. I simply did not have the processing-power and Ram to do what I had intended.

I'll still fool around some more with it, but then I'll be having a talk with some of my friends.

Hmm, Judge WAN? Do you think he would be interested in a trade?

Judge WAN would be interested. His rates are reasonable. PM him and you can go from there.

Yes. Very much so.

:D

Actually there is a fantasy city scene that has a lot going on in it.

 Yes, I'm sure there is. I actually had a chance to ink some originals of Perez (backgrounds anyway). Personally I prefer his breakdowns to his full pencils.

Judge WAN has as you noticed, agreed to a small trade, with a little something extra I happened to have, thrown in on the side. :)

It's looking good so far. It also looks like most of the complicated background is out of the way.

I am just posting here to see the results. Knowing Judge Wan's work and who the penciler is, I expect it to look awesome!

About 1/2 of the complicated area is.

Thanks. I'm taking way too long. But the cityscape is really involved. I do a building or two every few days just to keep it moving.
