The concept and inking was done by a Deviant Art artist named Kawaidebu. I liked the concept of Batgirl with something akin to a more realistic woman's body so much that I decided to do the coloring on it, with his permisson, of course. Sometimes it's just fun to color. :)

She's pretty. But good fucking luck selling that concept to DC!

Yeah, no lie. I mean, personally, I think this girl looks like she could kick ass more than some twig of a woman could, but then I'm biased. ;)

Thanks, Lin.'

I didn't know Ian liked to color!

Nice work, Tina. I like to see anyone's artwork. :)

Thank you, Ian and Mark. :)

Sometimes I look at Photoshop as my upgraded 64-color box of Crayolas. :)

I have no problem with perfectly formed men and women in comics, comics aren't supposed to be realistic, and it sells better, but yes, she could kick ass.

I would probably buy a comic with the above Batgirl (ya know, if you're going for the predominately feminist concept of realistic portrayals of women, maybe you should drop the "girl"), but I would be among the few.

Great job by the way!

Thanks Matthew and Jacob.

Jacob, I don't think that realistic portrayals of women are strictly a feminist desire. And really, I'm fine with the unrealistic ones, too, but some balance would be great. Don't expect to really see much of it, though.

And as for the "girl" -- I'm not a stickler on this stuff. I have no problem with Bat"girl", either. :)

Ya know, I can't think of a single woman I know that has a problem with the term 'girl' used about themselves or others.

Come to think about it, even the term 'chick' stopped being a bad thing amongst any of them five or so years ago...

Maybe, as everybody gets older, they stopped getting offended by things that much. Or, being called a 'chick' or 'girl' makes 'em feel younger. Or something.

Or I just know weird chicks. I mean girls. I mean women.

:D

Heh, just yesterday, I realized my students use chicks when referring to women or girls. I mostly found it amusing, because I don't tend to use the term, though I did growing up.

I've not met a single woman that minds being called girl. Then again, I'm only 43, so maybe I'm not old enough.

Well, since most women don't read comics anyways, it's a tough thing to judge.

I know it bugs my mom if no one else.

Perhaps this would be a good place to mention Big Bertha of the Great Lakes Avengers? Dan Slott took a character who was basically designed as one-joke, and made her genuinely sympathetic. Of course, that is true of ALL the members of the GLA, including the newest one, Squirrel Girl.

Oh, I know. I don't mind using girl and boy for man and woman -- after all, we're often all girls and boys inside emotionally when it comes down to it. And let's face it, it's our childhood love of comics that brings most of us here. ;)

Can't say I really use "chick," but it doesn't offend me. I try to choose my battles.

Fractal Woman... ? Nope. Somehow, it just doesn't cut it, Lin'. ;)

Fractal Chick?

One female friend of mine likes to use the word 'chickyboo' to describe a woman who is...less than mature. I do recall her using the term 'gutter slut' as well...

So what you're saying is call her "Bat" instead? :P
