[Actual story. My granddaughter came to me today and asked me to show her how to draw Batman. I drew a simplified Batman head for her (oval head, oval eyes, mouth, and a line to show his mask, plus triangles to show his ears). She then drew her own and signed it. She was so proud of it that she asked me to scan it in (since she's seen me do that with my own stuff). And since I had it scanned in, I present it here.]

thats great. How old. I remember my own sons translation of superman batman. as he got a little older we tried Iron man.

She watches Superfriends with me.

Another kid raised to mispronounce Mxlptlk. You should be ashamed

1) Believe me, if she ever sees the character at all, she'll say the name right.
2) I tend to only watch the Challenge of the Superfriends (meaning no Mxyzptlk) and occasionally a "Super Powers Team" episode (where, alas he does appear once, but never when she's been watching).

You should be proud!

I will put it on the wall at work next to the Yoda, Teen Titans, and R2D2 drawn by my kids.

My son did a chalk drawing of Mater in profile from Cars the other day. It looked EXACTLY like Mater. It had the hook and the wheels in the correct place.

And I'm going to sticky this for a few days because I can and I want to.

I like it. Your granddaughter gets the ideas of Batman very well.

I need to start accepting some of the drawings my students do. One boy does an ok Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. His parents take him to see movies, but can't afford to buy him a book.

I don't know if such things are permitted, but maybe at the end of the year you could give him one. Sounds like the poor kid could use one.

He needs it. He'll get one. I try to get them all a book of their own by year's end.

Today instead of a drawing lesson, she wanted a drawing. I have been doing caricatures / cartoons of her and her brother since they were infants and she knows this, so today she asked me to draw "her" and her hero. So here is Ms. Shannon A. and Dora the Explorer®.



[In case anyone is wondering how I can have a blond haired gray eyed grandchild, my wife is white (mostly), my stepdaughter is white (again mostly), and Shannon's biological father is white.]
