The guy's a good artist but he drew this like he wasn't expecting it to be colored. Maybe that's his style or as far as he knew it wasn't GOING to be colored.
But it was a little challenging in parts.
Uhh, I pretty much draw like I don't expect the work to be colored. Usually, it isn't.
I've seen your work. You are not nearly as loose as this guy, believe me.
I'm running into a problem I've never noticed before. All of these pages are appearing really washed out. So after trying everything else, I'm satting them MORE before I post them.
If they look REALLY saturated that's why, but I don't know how else to fix it. Googling didn't help.
But as we know from my earlier coloring attempts saturation was never a problem before. They came out here (or other places) just like I saw them. But now they're not.
What I've since found out is that every ap used to post pics will cause some sat loss. I never noticed it before. I went to look at those tweaked ones I put on FB and sure enough, they were a little less saturated. But on here, and only on the sequentials I posted, there's a LOT of desat. Using Imgur.
I don't know why. It's RGB just like anything else I post.
Photoshop 7 is woefully out of date. The Hi-Fi CDs that came with their book contain scripts that won't run on 7.
On a positive note let me just say now that I wrote Brian Miller at Hi-Fi with some questions and he wrote me back the next day and was very polite and helpful.
But like I say, when you expect the worst you can only be pleasantly surprised.
Yeah, I was outvoted on the eyes thing. I still think I like it better, though. Outside of just liking it, I was also picturing that symbol on her face glowing in the dark (when she wants it to) and the cowardly, superstitious criminals realizing that the angel of death was upon them.
I'd have thought the main vote would be yours, but what do I know?
But, maybe the other side is that, because the symbol on her face is angel-shaped, the eyes don't look quite right. I'd perhaps suggest putting the angel shape on her torso, but then that might be too reminiscent of Liberty's costume.
I dunno...I still like the eyes. Maybe you could just the eyes glow (and appear at all) in the dark.

One of you is going to have to man up and tell me why, out of ALL the things I've done since I've been here, people are avoiding commenting on the above piece like it will infect them.
I think it's a pretty cool piece. I don't usually care for the blur effect, but it seems to work here (still prefer speed lines, though). It's interesting that the three characters are lined up to take on the other guy, but I think it might be more effective if they were staggered a little bit, coming at him from at least slightly different angles.
Oh, I like the moon walk.

I realize I didn't quite get there. I wasn't even going to put a background and when I decided to I tried a shortcut. Rather than draw a background, I found a photo, filtered it so it looked like an ink drawing, touched that up, colored it and then blurred it. I also tried NOT to do any detailed anatomy.
So I wasn't quite happy with it either. Maybe at some point I'll go back and try something different. The figures are separate from the background in another layer.
But I really don't mind if we consider this not my best work. I was pretty happy with the figures, though, all things considered.
OK. Now that THAT'S outta the way, here's what I've decided to do.
I'm going to draw the 34 page Lionman origin comic.
I've got a script done and I've decided that I shouldn't wait around for money or luck to let me pay someone else to draw it. I can draw a little, by God; I should just do it myself.
But this is going to be no doubt a major, painful undertaking. So I'm going to cheat, take every shortcut I can, trace, use photos, whatever the hell it takes. I don't care at this point. Working in my favor, there's no detailed superhero anatomy or cityscapes to deal with. Much.
And since I'm going to do it on the wacom as inked, I'm going to try and commit myself to a half page a day.
So every two days, I will post a page here, together with that page of the script. That's the plan.
And then I will letter the damned thing and color it. I did teach myself to letter for the 8-page PITCHED 3 story.
After THAT, I may look into this Kickstarter thing to pay for printing. I want a bunch of them, slick covers, the proper interior paper, in full color. I know a Kickstarter campaign will go much better if I have a completed comic to show. Other than that, I don't know much about it. I think you have to make a video and I sure have no desire to put myself in front of a camera. But that's a worry for another day.
And I will expect ALL OF YOU to critique the beast. Any feedback will help me refine it before any printing is done.
