These are (honestly) the only pieces I've ever inked. I really, really appreciate any and all comments, critiques, etc. This is just a hobby for me - I have no aspirations outside of just trying to get better at doing this.

It started with this -- a re-imagining of the classic MAN OF STEEL #1. I plan to do all 6 covers along the same theme:

Very Nice. Really like that Guardian Piece. One question on the Man of Steel pieces. The S logo, was that a design choice or am I not remembering the original covers, something else.

Design choice -- "earth 2" or "golden age" Superman --- pulled the design from Crisis.

Next, I was conversing with Imwan's own Ryan Maxwell and the topic of Avengers 57 came up --- so for a lark I threw this together (11x17) -- and a whole shit storm started over at the JBF...I definitely like parts of this one, but I wish I'd used different pens to get finer details.

....then Ryan and I discussed a concept piece HE had thought of -- Alpha Flight #25 (the return of Guardian, tho evil)...done as Avengers 57, the result (11x17):

So, one thing led to another -- and I really wanted to challenge myself with something else - so I knocked this one together as a gift for Imwan's own Gerry Turnbull's 40th birthday (11x17):

Now -- I was pretty happy with the Dr Strange piece - but figured I really should focus on my inking skills. Ryan posted a new commissoin he'd recieved from Mel Rubi -- it screamed "ink me". I printed it in blue line on 11x17:

FINALLY -- I just finished this piece. It was a pencil commission over at the JBF. Again, I printed it on 11x17 as a blue line. The light grey lines are the residue of the blue lines. I made several changes to this one from the original, hopefully improving it - you be the judge:

I like all of them but the last, Pat, and even that's not too shabby at all! It does color my perception when you compare it next to the best inker in the biz though.

As the proud owner of a couple of these, I can say Pat has some serious talent he's just starting to tap.

JEFF -- that's kind the point -- I use the Joe R piece to show myself how much more I have to learn. His lines are so clean and perfect, so true -- mine....well they mostly look "good" - or "not to shabby" -- that's why I posted it last. You can see my inks compared to the pencils - then my inks compared to a real inker.

You do good work Pat. For a guy who hadn't drawn for some time, you're getting into the swing of things quickly I'd say!

I think your work is improving by leaps and bounds as it progresses. Keep it up.

Oh how I remember said shit storm of controversy. I stuck up for you though. I mean come on people, is it really so wrong to enjoy a re-creation? By the way, nice job on the Cap inks.
